Job Summary and Essential Functions:

Working in the Client Management group, the Solutions Engineer (SE) is fundamentally responsible for aligning solutions and expertise with client business issues and/or opportunities. This involves not only solution demonstrations related to the Spatial suite of products and applications but also leading the Needs Analysis phase of the sales cycle.

The SE assists Account Managers with customer inquiries regarding the technical applications of our products and services with the ultimate goal of successful client engagement.

The SE acts as the interface between sales and service teams to ensure that professional services technical requirements are adequately outlined and communicated on a Statement of Work for the proper provision of professional services tasks for customers.

Responsibilities:

Be a subject matterexpert for formulating and leading presales technical / functional support activity to prospective clients and customers.

Drive the “technical sale” with clients by convincing them our solution, architecture and integration options will deliver the value they require to solve their business challenges.

Focuses on large or complex sales opportunities that need creative and complex solutions.

Use knowledge of system and application design to develop productivity tools and training for sales team, including development of presentations and software application demonstrations.

Technical resource and mentor for less experienced Sales Consultants.

Lead liaison between software development, product management and clients to ensure alignment, and ultimately ensure products built are what clients need.

Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques and project management skills.

Be able to take the intuitive elements of being aleader on theSE team and turn them into standard practices for all.

Ability to build excellent working relationships with the Account Executives andSolution Architects (Professional Services) to build a winning solution for our clients.

Ability to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations, and written communication.

Knowledge and ability to build software applications that demonstrate how to solve client business problems.

Technology Requirements:

- Windows 2000/XP operating systems - MS Office and MS Project - DBMS Software products - MS Access, Oracle, SQL Server - GIS Software Products – for example ArcView, ArcMap, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, MapInfo Professional,Autodesk Mapguide, Intergraph Geomedia
