Reporting to the Risk Manager, the Senior Risk Analyst will be part of the Corporate Legal and Risk Group and responsible for subcontractor prequalification and supporting the administration of the subcontractor default insurance program.We are looking for an outgoing individual with a strong ability to interpret financials. This individual will be front facing to internal and external stakeholders advocating and educating on the benefits of the program. This is a lead role in the department with opportunity to be involved in claims preparation and refining our risk management approach on project and corporate levels.This position can be based in either the Edmonton or Calgary, AB office.What you will be working on Risk Management Respond to questions from internal and external sources regarding the corporate subcontractor default insurance program and provide timely risk advice. This includes soliciting project specific insurance policies and regular meetings across Bird’s districts with operations leadership.Coordinate prequalification of subcontractors for the subcontractor default insurance program based on established corporate risk appetites and growth objectives.Perform comprehensive analysis of potential subcontractors / suppliers to ensure their financial capacity, experience, and operational resources meets or exceeds project / contract specific criteria.Adhere to established subcontractor / supplier management protocols and strategies to manage subcontractor performance.Ensure that all procurement activities are undertaken in strict accordance with the corporate procurement policy and delegation of authority.Maintain and update tracking of notices to subcontractors, prequalification documentation, and reporting to insurer for enrollment and billing purposes.Support the gathering and compilation of insurance renewal information and submission packages.Host educational presentations for internal and external stakeholders on the benefits of the subcontractor default insurance program. Presentations would be a mix of online and in-person delivery models.Lead and help supervise junior risk analysts including review and approval of financial recommendations.Provide claims support for the subcontractor default program including coordination with internal and external legal counsel, brokers, and insurers.Monthly travel to visit district head offices country-wide and potential yearly visits to the United States.Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong working relationships and open communication with internal/external stakeholders to reinforce responsible risk management practices and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.Cultivate collaborative relationships withsubcontractors/supplierswith a strong emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.Participate in internal training with the business to educate and support in order to promote responsible risk management practices.What We Are Looking For Undergraduate degree or diploma in business, construction management, risk management, credit management, or insurance or a combination including experience will be considered.Experience in analysis and interpretation of data, financial statements, and qualitative reviews.Involvement in risk management, insurance, claims, surety, or construction management an asset.Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to forge, grow, and maintain collaborative positive relationships with multiple groups. Experience in a lead position within a team.Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.Experience presenting educational material to small and medium audiences including in person delivery.Highly developed interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
