Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Analyst to join our client's Middle Office team. The Senior Risk Analyst will play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and operational risks associated with our energy trading activities. This position requires a deep understanding of market conditions, advanced risk management techniques, and strong analytical skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring market trends, performing daily risk assessments, developing comprehensive risk reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Letters of Credit (LCs):

- Manage issuances, amendments, cancellations, and transfers of letters of credit.

Accounting & Reporting:

- Perform derivatives MTM valuations using Bloomberg and interact with external auditors.

- Monitor and reconcile cash and collateral accounts, and trade executions using various software tools.

- Compile hedge position, MTM exposure, and cash collateral tracking reports for executives.

- Generate monthly reports for Accounting and Back Office support.

- Reconcile trading activities, including confirms, settlements, and collateral accounts.

- Prepare position reports for Electric and Gas, and JV assets for cost allocation.

- Ensure compliance and reporting for regulatory bodies like FERC, Dodd-Frank, and CFTC.

Trade & Payments

- Review, draft, and execute trade confirmations for RECs, energy, etc.

- Support auditors in trade confirmation audits.

- Assist with payment reconciliations and understand internal payment processes

- Review and process margin calls for long-term energy hedges with key counterparts and monitor forward exposure.

**ISO & Credit Management:**

- Manage ISO accounts (PJM, ERCOT, IESO, CAISO, ISO-NE, MISO, SPP) for compliance.

- Submit required documents and assist in user management.

- Manage ISO collateral with necessary approvals.

- Conduct counterparty credit reviews, maintain credit dashboard, support KYC requests, and process collateral requests.

3rd Party Service Management:

- Understand and manage synergies between 3rd party platforms (ACES, ADM, ICE, Nodal).

- Ensure compliance with platform requirements.

What you need:

- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in risk management.

- Prior Middle Office experience including familiarity with MTM, hedges, forward transactions, and related reporting.

- Prior experience with credit collateral management and monitoring of collateral accounts.

- Prior credit and commodity-related experience is preferred.

- Prior experience in a treasury-related role is an asset.

- Ad hoc tasks as required.

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related applications.

- Knowledge and experience with document management systems, procedures, and filing systems.

- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.

- Quick learner with the ability to understand internal procedures.

- Ability to work with a dynamic team, as well as individually in support of the overall company and department goals.

- Analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Flexibility in work assignments and priorities, and the ability to undertake other tasks as required.

- Holding or obtaining CFA, CPA is seen as an asset.
