This scientist will contribute to the assessment and development of antibody-based oncology drug candidates so that we can move programs faster and with less risk to the clinic. The position involves internal R&D as well as external collaborative research. We are looking for someone who has a passion for understanding how models can predict therapeutic action on human disease.How you might spend your days:Leading internal preclinical in vivo oncology models to support oncology programsDesigning, running, and interpreting pharmacology studies to generate in vivo proof-of-concept and build confidence in selection of molecules for clinical developmentCollaborating with in vitro biology, protein engineering, and pharmacokinetics scientists, as well as external CROs and collaborators, to execute efficient PK/PD studies to identify lead molecules and advance programs to human trialsMentoring team members in laboratory techniques related to tumour xenograft modelsReporting findings to internal program team and partners to support data-driven decisionsEvaluating available preclinical and clinical data sets to build testable biological hypotheses for oncology targets and then preclinically assessing those hypothesesDeveloping, performing, and overseeing supporting assays to assess target modulation and downstream effects at the cellular, protein, and gene levelWe’d love to hear from you if:You have 8+ years of hands-on experience in oncology, immuno-oncology, and biologics drug developmentYou have a PhD in pharmacology, immunology, or related field, plus 5-8 years of experience in a biopharmaceutical industry setting; or a MSc and 8-10 years of relevant experienceYou have proven interpersonal skills and create value on cross-functional teamsYou are genuinely curious, with an interest in discussing innovative ideas in a highly collaborative and fast paced environmentYou are good at communicating scientific and/or technical concepts with an emphasis on applicationYou are able to independently identify project needs and follow that up with constructing and implementing solutionsYou enjoy the teamwork that comes with working on complicated biological questions and building data sets that help to predict the success of therapiesWhat we offer:AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $110,000 - $137,600 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
