Sunshine Oilsands is a Calgary-based Oil & Gas Company, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The Corporations West Ells SAGD Project is located within the Province of Alberta near Fort McMurray.We are currently seeking for a full time, permanent Senior Regulatory Compliance Analyst for our office in downtown Calgary, AB.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The Senior Regulatory Compliance Analyst will support the development of new and ongoing projects through the various respective regulatory approval processes including health and safety responsibilities. This will include determining the required approvals, developing the strategy to meet the regulators’ expectations; coordinate the preparation of applications and supplemental information requests; and direct engagement with other provincial authorities at the municipal, provincial and federal level ensuring compliance is maintained with varying levels of authorities.The position will also have responsibility for mineral and surface land tenure and share overall responsibility for aboriginal and non-aboriginal consultation and community relation activities and direct the staff and events related to these activities.The Analyst will be responsible for providing input to the regulatory authorities at all levels which may include providing appropriate input for developing new and/or amending existing regulations. This position is an integral member of the Company management team with an expectation to bring creativity, strategy, energy and enthusiasm to the teams.Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:Determine the required approvals (AER, Alberta Energy, DFO and Transport Canada, Canadian Nuclear Safety Board, Occupational Health and Safety, and regional municipalities) for Sunshine’s projects and amendments and operations;Develop the strategy to meet regulatory expectations, coordinate the preparation of the applications, reporting and compliance management with the regulators;Identify, direct and support all AER and stakeholder affairs activities and community relations events essential to the Company’s projects and activities arising from those projects and operations;Manage application, compliance, land, and health and safety staff ensuring goals are set and met. Actively develop talent and grow and empower staff to resolve issues and take charge of and responsibility for their area of expertise;Identify and manage corporate and operational requirements to ensure full compliance with health and safety standards. Support the development of appropriate protocols and procedures through analysis, creation and implementation of appropriate procedures with a view to establishing auditing activities to maintain compliance;Provide coordination, development and project level analysis for operations budget; manage all approved AFE’s and reconcile expenditures monthly, quarterly, annually;Oversee commitments from agreements ensuring full compliance with stakeholders; deal with regulatory compliance similarly assuring active compliance processes exist;Participate in applicable forums and events to improve Sunshine’s brand (e.g. OSCA, IOSA, CAPP);Provide input to the regulators who are developing new and/or amending existing regulations;Champion and position the organization to the external environment;Provide mentorship, guidance and strategic oversight to team; work to establish a productive, respectful environment; andOther duties and responsibilities as assigned.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET:10+ years applicable experience in regulatory affairs and stakeholder consultation;Post-secondary education along with related work experience;Strong working knowledge of applicable Acts, Regulation, Rules and Directives;Proficient with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);Proven ability to work across departments and workgroups to achieve overall corporate objectives;Ability to communicate with varied audiences;Excellent project management, leadership, negotiation and team skills;Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:Paid time offStore discountSchedule:Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:Calgary, AB T2P 2X6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)Experience:compliance in the oil & gas industry: 2 years (preferred)Work Location: In person
