Job Description
Chepstow Plant are looking to recruit a Senior Regional Field Service Engineer in the Southwest of England. The position will work alongside a dedicated team of field service engineers and welders/fabricators across the region to help manage one of the UK’s most modern quarrying fleets, with circa 150 front-line machines in the region.
This position’s key focus is working with the company’s preferred OEM partners for 1st phase software diagnoses (training provided for the right candidate), targeting first time fix of equipment to lead with standards for the FSE team. The position will also need to work with a primary mindset to promote safe working standards, both personally and with colleagues and clients. The position will report directly into the regional Operations Manager but will work very closely on a day-to-day basis with the Head of Field Service at the company’s Head Office.
Job Roles / Duties
- Provide on-site diagnostics and technical support for the company’s front-line assets across the region, reducing dependency and call-outs from OEM partners.
- Monitor asset compliance to improve preventative maintenance, including areas such as brake testing, LOLER’s, and 6 weekly inspections.
- Engage with Head Office maintenance department to ensure asset reminders and compliance are followed and ensure a swift close-out of all repair and service jobs.
- Supervise and monitor wear components (Tyres, GET, UC, etc.) across the region.
- Carry out on-site repairs, when required, to aid repair timelines for breakdowns and preventative maintenance activities.
- Adhere to safe working practices, including dynamic risk assessments and method statements prior to starting any work.
- Actively engage in training and development with OEM partners to further develop both your and the department’s capabilities.
- Utilise IT systems to complete repair or service paperwork, diagnose assets, and complete asset inspections.
- Liaise with local suppliers, customers, and OEMs to ensure swift close-out of any jobs.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant, with training or experience at a major manufacturer preferred, but not essential.
- Consistent and proactive approach to safety, in line with the company’s core ethos, safety principles, and culture.
- Experience and knowledge of diagnostic equipment and procedures, including use of laptops for fault finding. Training will be provided, where necessary.
- The ideal candidate would have formal experience in plant maintenance such as NVQ level 3 / city and guilds or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge around the mechanical, electrical & technical components of quarrying and mining assets.
- Good communication and IT skills.
- Good organisational and mentoring skills.
