Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Purchasing Manager to lead our company's procurement and warehousing operations.

As Senior Purchasing Manager, you will play a pivotal role at McKeil Marine. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization through leadership of our procurement and warehousing team, implementing strategy, policies, and processes, and managing suppliers to deliver on-time, on-budget, compliant and high-quality products, and services.


Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the Purchasing department, ensuring quality, compliance, schedule, and budget requirements are met, including working with internal departments and our marine vessels to leverage procurement efficiencies across our company while identifying business risks and opportunities.
  • Manage, maintain, and create corporate purchasing processes, framework and requirements as defined by company policies and our Quality Safety Management System.
  • Oversee and manage risk through analysis of suppliers and market conditions and potential impacts on supply to the organization.
  • Manage forecasts to predict future inventory needs, price trends, and supply scenarios.
  • Oversee the function of our Warehouse Operation in Port Maitland, ON where shoreside inventory and shipment logistics functions reside.
  • Develop procurement strategies alongside company goals and objectives across functional areas.
  • Maintain and build relationships with existing suppliers, and research, source, access, and develop relationships with new suppliers, to increase overall value provided to the business and meet business needs.
  • Lead supplier communications and negotiations on terms, pricing, and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain procurement metrics to drive continuous improvement and optimization of company resources (financial and non-financial).


Profile of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Must have a “boots on the ground” mentality and a willingness to perform any functional tasks within the department alongside departmental staff as required.
  • The best person for this role will come with a strong work ethic, and a commitment to doing things right.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Excel is crucial for handling complex datasets, performing advanced calculations, and creating dynamic reports.
  • Strong Data Analysis mindset and the ability to create and use metrics for better decision-making, identifying trends and performing cost analyses.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or other for visualizing data and generating actionable insights from data.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field and a minimum of 10 years of relatable experience (will consider applicants with an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and work experience).
  • An accreditation related to Procurement and/or Supply Chain Management (CSCMP) would be an asset. Education equivalencies will be considered.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills to develop internal relationships/ partnerships with multiple stakeholders.
  • ERP Systems Experience.
  • Project Management experience is also an asset.

  • Office environment, supplier visits and visits to our fleet vessels to better understand the front-line needs of the organization.
  • Must be able to undertake travel (by ground or air) as required.
