Senior Project Specialist - Peterborough or Burlington, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid working arrangement of up to 3 days per week onsite)

About the Opportunity

Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada. The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse's mission to provide clean energy solutions.

The Senior Project Specialist will support Project Managers and Project Control Specialists in project set-up and kick-off activities to ensure alignment with Westinghouse PMO governance and best practices. They will provide leadership and support throughout the life of the projects for re-baselining, data checks and internal compliance audits, and consolidated portfolio level reporting and monitoring. They will support process improvement initiatives including procedure updates, PM and PCS training, implementation of lessons learned and corrective actions.

What will you do?

Your day to day:
  • Assist Project Managers in project set-up and kick-off to align with WEC PMO governance
  • Work with Project Managers to develop initial project schedule, lead resource loading and project baselining activities
  • Support project re-baselining as required throughout the project
  • Ensure project WBS alignment between SAP cost and P6 schedule and data accuracy to support project EVM
  • Conduct periodic project audits to ensure compliance to procedures and identify areas for improvement
  • Recommend and support corrective actions and lessons learned implementation to improve overall portfolio performance
  • Support development of procedures and standard practice for project cost-schedule integration
  • Generate consolidated weekly schedule lookahead reports to support alignment with cross-functional department resource planning
  • Prepare regular schedule compliance reports to monitor trending for missed tasks/delays
  • Occasional travel to company locations to interface with onsite staff
What will you bring?

Who you are:
  • Bachelors degree - Business or engineering preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in Project Controls and/or Project Management, with a preference for Canadian Nuclear Industry experience
  • PMP is an asset but not required
  • Experienced in Primavera (P6) scheduling
  • Experienced in Earned Value Management
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in developing processes and procedures
  • SAP or other enterprise software experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, clear and concise
  • Aptitude towards a fast-paced work environment and decision making
