Job Description

The successful candidate will be a Senior Engineer with 10+ years of experience working in an engineering and project management capacity. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the mining/industrial industry. The Senior Project Engineer will have an extensive background in both engineering and project management. Candidates should be comfortable working in an office environment, with exposure to surface and underground mine sites on an as-required basis to fulfill the needs of the projects. This position is part of the Engineering group within our growing Sudbury office. The work will involve short (1-2 days) to medium term (2-3 weeks) travel to domestic and international mine sites. This role includes the following tasks: TasksLead projects, as the primary client contact, directing and managing an engineering team composed of both internal and external resources Prepare engineering proposals to address client needs. P&C strives to engage with the client at project outset and prefers a collaborative working relationship Identify client-specific project management requirements and tailor project delivery to the needs of the client Proactively manage project budget, schedule, and scope, adhering to project-specific requirements Prepare forecasted budget spend on a project-to-project basis Gain an appreciation for the services offered by P&C and carry out business development through interactions with clients and contacts in the mining industry Develop project schedules at all stages of the project life cycle (i.e. PFS, FS, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning). Experience with MS Project or other scheduling software is required Collaborate with senior staff to effectively manage office resources and meet project deadlines Support engineering at all stages of the project life cycle (i.e. PFS, FS, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning). This may include participation or a lead role in the development of design criteria documents, engineering drawings, technical reports, etc. Lead the preparation of cost estimates suitable to the level of accuracy required for the project Technical communication, including report writing and presentations Peer review of technical documents to ensure deliverables align with the high-quality of work that we have built our reputation on ResponsibilitiesTake ownership and accountability for project outcomes (success or failure); identify and implement improvements where necessary Mentoring of junior staff, both from an engineering and project management perspective Perform with a high-level of quality and productivity in an engineering consulting firm Application of technical skills to perform problem solving and engineering tasks When on site, lead by example; practicing safe behaviour and habits Minimum Requirements and CompetenciesB. Sc. engineering degree. Preference will be given to candidates with discipline specific degrees that complement our current service offerings Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario 10+ years’ engineering and project management experience. Experience in an engineering consulting firm is considered an asset Project management professional or other formal project management training/credentials are considered an asset Eligible to work in Canada Fluent in English, both written and oral.
