Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Project Engineer with power distribution experience to join the Toronto engineering team. They offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be fully involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process.Responsibilities:Prepare the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems ranging from 4kV to 27.6kV by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, developing design drawings following applicable utility standards.Prepare, create, modify or review civil and electrical design, approve, and stamp them.Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, pole loading analysis, cable pulling calculation or review the calculations created by design technicians.Select or verify adequately rated equipment or components, including appropriate cable/wire ampacities for electrical distribution systems.Conduct routine field trips to verify or evaluate the condition/state of assets, to determine the feasibility of designs, to take detailed measurements.Help coordinate construction projects - liaise, consult and communicate with our customers.Demonstrated experience on overhead third-party attachment analysis on utility poles using SPIDAcalcUnderstanding SPIDAcalc reports.Supervises and mentors Engineering Technologists/Technicians.Inspect job sites during and after construction for compliance with specs.Attend design and project meetings as required.Ability to work with all levels of management and across multiple and varied functional teams to executive levels.Knowledge of power distribution system fundamentals, O.E.S.C., CSA Standards and distribution system specsSkills and Qualifications:Degree in Electrical Engineering or utility related EngineeringMember of Professional Engineer of Ontario PEO.Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting software.Minimum 10 years’ experience in power distribution environment preferred.Experience in the planning, design, and construction, within the utilities industry is an asset.Sound knowledge of overhead and underground distribution system designCompletes work in a timely and efficient manner, is able to work well independently with little supervision and attends work punctually.Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
