Job Description

IO’s Development Team is the centre for public sector land development in the Province of Ontario through its three Departments: Landmark Projects (LP), Social Purpose Projects (SPP), and Transit Oriented Communities (TOC). The Development team manages a $40BN program, working on some of the most impactful and high profile development projects in the Province, bringing together new and existing partners for the development of commercial solutions and the execution of related real-estate transactions to deliver on government priorities.

The three verticals, LP, SPP and TOC, have direct impact on Ontario’s infrastructure projects including the creation of landmark destinations, health and long-term care facilities, housing, and transit-oriented communities that integrate with public transit delivery (along major bus, subway(s) and GO/LRT stations). Your contributions will help to maximize housing supply, deliver long-term care beds, revitalize and modernize provincial destinations, and create complete communities that include affordable and attainable housing, public services, community amenities, recreation/ family entertainment, daycare and employment.

As a Senior Program Strategy Advisor, you will be a central figure in the Transit-Oriented Communities (TOC) programs, influencing program strategy with an emphasis on client relations, program objectives, and team deliverables. You will support the TOC programs with clarity and insight, while providing strategic advice.

What You Will Do
  • You will administer deliverables and coordinate with government and ministry partners, fostering a collaborative environment. Your responsibilities include enacting programmatic strategies that reflect the province’s vision for land and community development around transit. As a strategist, you will manage the flow of information and ensure that the TOC program is meeting provincial priorities and corporate objectives. Your ability to provide timely responses to ministry requests, manage trackers and minutes, and support agency reporting requirements is essential. You will play a critical role in interfacing between the agency and the client ministry, ensuring appropriate responses and accurate information for government approvals (including Treasury Board submissions, in collaboration with IO Agency Governance).
Who We’re Looking For
  • Before reviewing the qualifications listed below, we want you to know that we understand you may not meet all the qualifications described, but still encourage you to apply, as you may have other relevant expertise and experience that you can bring to the role. If you're enthusiastic about real estate finance, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to strategic decision-making, we encourage you to apply.
  • We are seeking a strategist with a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of government operations and processes. Your ability to communicate complex policy matters, especially as related to land development, in an understandable manner is essential. With a strong sense of program ownership and accountability, you will bridge knowledge gaps and provide informed advice on provincial matters. You will also have an understanding of government approvals and the ability to consider other government mandates when supporting policy guidance for Infrastructure Ontario. Experience in communicating complex policy matters succinctly, such as through briefing notes and presentations, is required. A strong political acumen and a keen eye for detail are also necessary. Relevant education or experience may include learnings relevant to public administration, political science, public affairs, project management, and urban planning, with experience building and maintaining strong relationships.
What's In It For You

  • A flexible, hybrid work approach that allows colleagues to find balance between their professional and personal lives and making the most of the benefits of working remotely and purpose-driven in-person collaboration opportunities.
  • A defined contribution pension plan, where IO contributes the equivalent of 5% of a full-time employee’s annual salary, with an option for IO to match an additional 5% contribution made by the employee. IO also offers a Group Retirement Savings Plan and Group Tax Free Savings Account, designed to help IO colleagues plan and save for their future.
  • A comprehensive package that covers health, dental, vision, out-of-country care, paramedical services, and more.
  • A pregnancy and parental leave program that offers expecting, eligible employees a top-up to 95% of their annual base salary for 31 weeks, and our parental leave program offers eligible employees a top-up to 95% of their annual base salary for 15 weeks.
  • Access to our $1000 Healthcare Spending Account to top up expenses not covered in the benefits program and a Lifestyle Account that expands the eligibility of health and wellness options and can include coverage for gym memberships and fitness equipment, nutrition counselling or financial planning.
  • Support for professional development opportunities for all colleagues through a broad range of learning programs that include in-person and online training, leadership development, and support for colleagues’ well-being. IO will also cover the costs associated with up to two membership and licence fees per year for eligible colleagues if directly related to the employee’s role.
  • Access to a suite of virtual healthcare options to support non-urgent medical needs
  • A convenient, central location at 1 Dundas St West, easily accessible by public transit.
