The Senior Payroll Specialist oversees the payroll function and will handle bi-weekly payroll for 400+ employees. This role requires a deep understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and a high level of attention to detail. Responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, addressing payroll-related inquiries, collaborating with cross-functional teams, implementing best practices and streamlining payroll processes.

What you'll get the opportunity to do:

  • Payroll Processing – executing end-to-end payroll including data entry, calculating wages, deductions & bonuses. Manages full salaried & hourly payrolls in an accurate and timely manner for 400+ employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll legislation, taxation and statutory requirements, and stay up to date on changes in regulations
  • Respond to inquiries from the People, Talent and Finance Teams as well as team members, government, and other third-party agencies
  • Assist with managing relationships with payroll service providers and technology vendors, ensuring high-quality service and value for the organization while meeting organizational SLAs.
  • Execute thorough audits and reconciliations of payroll data, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Manage financial reporting and month-end related to salaries, wages and benefits.
  • Execute year-end processes, including T4, RL-1 & W2 preparation, reconciliation, and distribution, in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage payroll assets, including data, documentation, and systems, ensuring data integrity
  • Lead projects such as payroll data cleansing to maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records
  • Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support payroll activities during M&A, including integration, compliance and employee onboarding.
  • Other ad hoc reporting, auditing tasks & projects as required.


What you'll bring to the team:

  • 5 years minimum of payroll experience
  • PCP Designation
  • Proficiency in Excel (v-look up, pivot tables and advanced filters)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dayforce experience (Preferred)
  • HiBob experience (Preferred)
  • Global payroll experience (Preferred)
