Summit Search Group has proudly partnered with Recycle BC and Multi-Material Stewardship Western (MMSW) on the search for a senior operations professional. The Manger, Collection at MMSW, in Saskatchewan oversees and manages the activities of the Collection team. MMSW is a not-for-profit Extended Producer Responsibility organizations for residential waste packaging and paper recycling in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.Recycle BC ensures packaging and paper product is collected from households and recycling depots, sorted and recycled responsibly. Recycle BC provides recycling services either directly to communities or by working in partnership with collectors like local governments, First Nations, private companies, and other not-for-profit organizations. MMSW was established to help obligated businesses meet their requirements under the Saskatchewan Recycling Regulation, helping to share the cost to Saskatchewan municipalities of providing recycling of household waste packaging and paper to residents.Position Overview:The Manager, Collection role ensures service providers and stakeholders understand and follow MMSW’s operational SOW, policies, and practices, leading to improved efficiency and increased collection and diversion rates. Responsibilities include overseeing collection operations, managing program-led and community-led contracts, setting strategic priorities, ensuring compliance and material quality, and optimizing relationships with service providers. This role reports to the VP Operations.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Implement and manage the collection network for materials in accordance with established program plan, annual operational plan and budget, and collection SOWs.Manage Collection Specialists in the oversight and on-the-ground management of collection within the defined provincial region,Recruit, orient, direct and performance manage the MMSW collection team for the province, including summer students; providing effective managerial oversight, ensuring work plan variables and program expectations are achieved.Provide formal collection channel status reports on a quarterly basis and informally as required.Actively monitor field reports, collection data, contamination results and other sources of information to identify collectors with highest priority compliance and quality assurance issues (contamination, lC&l, etc.).Manage and build relationships directly with collectors and oversee all aspects of program compliance in the province, including in-field training and managing escalations as necessary.Manage the operations of the MMSW program-led communities in the the province; coordinating with other Collection Managers in BC to ensure alignment and continuity with annual program-led and direct service program projects and requirements. Work with Operations Support department on the administration and communications related to these contracts.Identify opportunities for program enhancements in program-led areas; monitoring contractors’ performance, collection metrics and ensuring these programs pursue high performance standards.Promote and support team members involvement in public outreach to support public understanding of the MMSW program, share values, and instill trust in the program.Qualifications:Post-secondary education related to environmental studies, sustainability, supply chain, operations, related disciplines.Experience:At least 5 years in an operations environment, preferably with supply chain experience in a business or a private sector/municipal sector waste management environment.Knowledge/Competencies/SkillsAbility to conduct detailed analysis and provide summaries and recommendations.Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Strong leadership skills with an ability to work independently on a daily basis.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prepare clear and concise administrative and technical reports.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships.Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively create and implement project plans.Proficiency in MS Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint and strong operational software management capabilities, including ability to analyze and synthesize data.Comfortable in a virtual work environment and ability to collaborate independently.Working Conditions:This role requires travel within the defined service area, with occasional overnight travel to other areas of the province to conduct site inspections and meet with various partners.
