ABOUT THE POSITION
The Senior Mechanical Estimator is responsible for managing and estimating the process for assigned projects requiring special expertise. The Senior Mechanical Estimator is accountable for the quality of work prepared under his/her direction and is required to work closely with the team and stakeholders, undertake value engineering, complete cost-saving exercises, and develop the project budget. As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will be familiar with ACL estimating and quality procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the owner and the owner’s agents by recognizing the owner’s unique proposal and project requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure ACL receives competitive pricing for estimates.
- Manage the estimating process, including site conditions, safety requirements, interpreting drawings and specifications, preparing quantity surveys, pricing of estimates, and General and Special Conditions of cost estimates.
- Work with the owners and owner’s consultants to resolve any questions or ambiguities with the tender documents prior to submitting a tender.
- Provide assistance to management for risk analysis.
- Attend meetings – including bid tender, PRC, pricing review, and sub-contractor scope when needed, to meet the requirements of the estimating process.
- Research labour laws for the project.
- Obtain the correct rates and appropriate “add-ons".
- Coordinate efforts in contacting labour unions to secure labour rate relief to enhance competitiveness.
- Assist Chief Estimator by preparing subcontractor/supplier bid analysis, ensuring delivery of bid before specified closing time.
- Maintain confidentiality of subcontractor/supplier bid pricing.
- Maintain a tender file on active and inactive projects.
THE REQUIREMENTS
The Senior Mechanical Estimator will be required to have the following:
- 10 + years working in a managerial estimating position (Industrial Sector).
- Experience with using Accubid.
- Experience with Piping and Instruction Diagram.
- Ability to work in the office and on site.
- E.T., Gold Seal Certification in Estimating and/or Project Management is preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Strong ability to read, analyze, interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procurement manuals.
- Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
COMPENSATION
Salary Compensation: $130,000 – $160,000
