Englobe (Formerly Arrow Engineering) is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work out of the Edmonton office.

As a member of the Mechanical Engineering division, the Senior Mechanical Engineer has shared responsibility for the performance and success of our mechanical engineering team, and firm, respectively. This position will report directly to the Director, work independently, and with minimal supervision, while working in collaboration with various colleagues and external partners. The incumbent will actively pursue and influence the development of new business while offering leadership to a professional team.

Working on various mechanical engineering project types which include (mechanical engineering for buildings such as municipal, healthcare, recreation, multifamily, commercial retail, assemblies, labs, military, and policing to name a few). The work environment is of high volume, offering a range of project complexities and requires a high level of responsibility.

Your Contribution

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the various team members.
  • Experience with designing cooling and heating ventilation systems, HVAC design, design plumbing systems for sewage and potable water, design fire extinguishing systems for different building types.
  • Utltimately responsible for ensuring the mechanical drawings and specifications meet established project criteria and applicable standards.
  • Project management tasks as required, including responsibility for internal project financial budgets, coordination of project personnel resources, timely submission of deliverables, and monitoring project scope.
  • Coordinate the preparation of engineering specifications and drawings, quantity, and opinions on probability of cost.
  • Preparation of reports, proposals, and tender/bid submissions, budgets, project plans, and other supporting documentation, as required.
  • Attend project meetings with Clients and other design team members.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines within Englobe and externally.
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings.
  • Carry out and assist with field reviews.
  • Communicating with clients, contractors, and suppliers in the positive promotion of the firm.
  • Meet with clients regarding projects, progress reporting, and the resolution of issues, as required.
  • Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety rules.

Your Profile

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Eligible for membership with APEGA.
  • P.Eng. or in the process of obtaining P.Eng.
  • 10 years of related industry experience.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Show an aptitude of general construction methods, problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Valid driver's license (job duties may include some travel).
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Effectively manages a variety of projects and/or initiatives, often occurring simultaneously.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Sense of humour.
  • Enjoys working in a professional office environment, with occasional client and/or site visits, and can work outside of normal business hours, when necessary.
