As Senior Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for the execution of projects from design through to construction. You will ensure all Enersolv standards and codes are implemented and you will be responsible for meeting and exceeding client expectations while continuously improving the project bottom line.ResponsibilitiesMentor junior staff providing technical guidance and coordinating activities of those assigned to projectsPerform heating and cooling load calculationsHVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems designCoordinate mechanical requirements with other disciplines involved in the project design teamCoordinate service requirements/connections with utility and/or municipal agenciesReview/supervise drafting, prepare/review markupsAttend project progress meetings and provide updates to the assigned Project ManagerPrepare tender documentation including specificationsPerform field reviews, site surveys and final inspectionsCarry out contract administration including shop drawings reviewsAssist/ participate in the development of training material, design workshops, presentations, and other educational resources for junior staff.Assist in the constant improvement of internal processes related to Design only, and Design & Build projectsKeep current on new developments in relevant codes and innovative designAssist with fee proposal preparationMaintain client relations and develop business opportunities with new clientsCollaborate with the Construction Division during Design & Build processSkills and QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess:A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline5+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems3+ years AutoCAD experienceLEED® Accredited Professional designation or Green Building Certification is an assetKnowledge of the BC Building Code, Vancouver By-Laws, ASHRAE, CSA, CCDC, ASPE, NFPA and other applicable codes and standardsProfessional Engineer (PEng) or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) preferredCORE COMPETENCIESAbility to prepare working drawings using AutoCAD (Revit an asset)Ability to read Architectural, Structural, Electrical drawings with minimal supervisionAbility to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building and fire protection codesAbility to work on multiple projects at onceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in supervising/mentoring othersAbility to work with clients, contractors, consulting engineers and suppliers in a professional mannerBenefitsCompetitive salary based on prior experienceEmployer covered Health and benefitsTraining and professional development support3 weeks vacation startingUp to five days paid sick leave per yearAnnual profit sharing plan4% GRSP Matching Contribution
