The Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory tax filing requirements (Corporate Income Tax, Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing and Foreign Affiliate reporting), monitoring on time submission of all tax returns and ensuring internal tax policies and standards are implemented and upheld by all entities in the region. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for review and submission of the corporations quarterly and annual tax provisions and US GAAP tax accounting requirements, including tax basis balance sheets, payable reconciliations, Return To Accrual reports.Ensure compliance with all Canadian statutory tax filing requirements monitoring on time submission of all tax returnsEnsuring internal tax policies and standards are implemented and upheld by all entities of the Group.Supervise 1 local tax professional and liaise with several remote shared services tax personnel in support of areas tax objectives.Work closely with co-sourced tax providers to ensure accurate reporting and the avoidance of penalties.Managing timely responses in relation to Canadian tax audits, in liaison with the Area Tax Director.Technical support for the Finance team for Canadian GST & sales tax complianceHandle tax queries raised by various operational product lines.Undertake a technical review of contracts/tender documentation and determine tax effect/risks, if any.Proactively seek out and develop solutions to mitigate tax risks and identify opportunities to minimize tax liability.Support regional management and others on specific issues and projects, working closely with Finance team members, Legal, and Treasury.Qualifications7-15 years combined experience with Big 4 public accounting firm and industryPrior working experience with a multinational organization, preferably US based, and matrix organization.Experience with internal controls with regard to Sarbanes OxleyStrong technical background in Canadian income tax and indirect tax technical issuesStrong knowledge and experience in US GAAP, FAS 109, ASC 740, preparing and reviewing tax provisions for large multinational companiesProficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint)Ability to use initiative, judgement, and work with minimum supervisionStrong analytical awareness and problem-solving skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills in English (second language preferred)Management experience over a small teamAbility to build and maintain good working relationships with all levels of personnelAbility to organize and adapt to changing work priorities and time schedules Preferred:Advanced knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley RequirementsAdvanced ExcelKnowledge of accounting systems (preferably J.D. Edwards and Hyperion)Knowledge of tax provision software (preferably Onesource)Second language in French and/or SpanishBachelors Degree in accounting, Finance, and or other business-related field.Experience with Canadian Oil & Gas Industry, preferably service sectorJDE (or similar large ERP system) and Hyperion experience
