The Opportunity

AgeCare is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, with strong leadership skills and advanced financial expertise to join our finance team. This position will report to the Director, Financial Reporting & Planning and with the responsibility of producing, auditing, and submitting timely, accurate financial statements and records. The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting will be responsible for providing direction and leadership in the realms of both financial reporting, and project-based management accounting.

What You Will Do:

1. Financial Reporting: Responsible for overseeing the preparation and reporting on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis

  • Responsible for timely and accurate production of month-end, quarterly and year-end consolidated financial statements.
  • Manages month-end process and provide support to the Finance team.
  • Responsible for reconciling and managing intercompany balances.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements including Health Authorities and Lenders.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate and timely monthly financial reporting packages to Board and other internal stakeholders.
  • Maintains confidentiality of our financial data.
  • Provide support on technical accounting issues.
  • Assist in preparation of any ad hoc analyses requested.
  • Evaluate existing internal controls, processes and as well as financial reporting methodologies and determine corrective action for any weaknesses.
  • Act as a liaison with external auditors and oversees the completion of the annual audit.
  • Provide indirect support in the completion of the annual budget.
  • Define and develop key performance indicators for financial and operational performance.

2. Policies and Procedures: Ensure all Finance policies and procedures are developed and maintained

  • Work with the Director, Financial Reporting & Planning to develop/enhance standardized accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to ensure compliance of internal accounting policies and procedures in accordance with AgeCare’s business requirements and industry standards & federal regulations.

3. Leadership: Provides leadership and support to team

  • Lead by demonstrating and cascading the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Supports the Managers in providing their teams with work oversight and performance leadership in a collaborative manner following AgeCare Guiding Principles and Values.
  • Active management and mentoring of assigned direct team as well as providing guidance to indirect reports on special projects.
  • Participation in special projects such as financial systems upgrades, evaluation of new systems and procedures and other ad hoc projects and analytics to support Senior Management.

What You Bring:

  • Education: post-secondary degree in a related field with professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA).
  • Experience: 8+ years’ financial accounting experience in financial reporting. 3+ years’ management level experience in either a Big 4 Firm or Midsize Firm is preferred.
  • Experience with Workday would be an asset.
  • Foundational knowledge and experience using accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE).
  • Proven skills in leadership and mentoring a core accounting team.
  • Strong attention to detail and desire for accuracy in work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Self-directed and organized with effective time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to extend/fluctuate from standard business hours as required to meet routine and unexpected deadlines.
  • Must be able to provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one.
