About the Team The accounting team is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and compliance with accounting standards. The accounting team consists of the corporate accounting team, technical accounting and financial reporting, revenue accounting, and accounts receivable teams. The team operates collaboratively, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement in financial processes. This role is to lead a four-person team that manages the accounting close, accounts payable, and payroll processes. About the Role We are looking for a highly motivated accounting leader to lead a hard-working team at an organization making a significant difference in the world. Reporting to the Controller, this role will lead a four-person team that manages the accounting close, accounts payable, and payroll processes and will own all aspects of GL accounting and ensure compliance with US GAAP. The ideal candidate should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, partner well cross-functionally, and have a flexible, can-do attitude. Your Impact Plan and implement the accounting close process and related activities to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal financial policies while adhering to a close timeline

Supervise complex accounting processes, such as software development, allocations, stock-based compensation, commission capitalization, intercompany and consolidation

Manage the end-to-end payroll process, benefits accounting, and quarterly and annual payroll tax filings

Responsible for the direct oversight and management of all Accounts Payable functions including expense reporting and accruals

Review all monthly corporate accounting and payroll journal entries and reconciliations

Provide insightful financial analysis, identify unusual variances, and take corrective actions both for P&L and Balance sheet every month

Assists with annual audits including financial statement audits, 401K audits, and any other statutory reporting requirements

Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations

Leverage technology to build scalable/sustainable processes to create efficiencies, streamline accounting operations, and improve the employee experience

Develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies and procedures that will improve the overall operations and reduce risks of the business

Establish strong relationships with cross-functional peers

Contribute to building the technical infrastructure and control environment to support the company’s hyper-growth

What You Bring Management experience in hiring, inspiring, developing, and retaining a successful team

8+ years of relevant experience in accounting and 4+ years of people management

In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, financial statements, and SaaS accounting best practices

History of working in a high-growth startup, preferably at a software company

Proficiency in evaluating, implementing, and improving Accounting tools and systems

Excellent communication skills and ability to partner effectively across functions and levels throughout the company

Strong attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with a big-picture strategic understanding

Ability to manage ambiguity, and multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Reliability, systematic approach, and ability to identify issues and drive timely and accurate resolution

“Roll-up the sleeves” approach to accomplishing all necessary tasks

CPA strongly preferred

Nice to Haves Working knowledge of NetSuite, Workday, or Airbase

Prior payroll experience overseeing or processing

Assisting in various financial audits

Big 4 experience is a plus
