We are looking for a Contract Specialist who will play a critical role in supporting our Procurement team and our Internal Stakeholders and will drive operational efficiencies and savings, including:

  • Transactional management of the end-to-end sourcing process
  • Renewing and amending existing contracts

This is a role that will work with our amazing team, including but not limited to our Procurement Specialists, Category Managers, and business stakeholders, ensuring strong collaboration.

Here’s how:

The Senior Procurement Specialist is an individual contributor role within the TELUS Procurement team. The Senior Procurement Specialist has accountability for developing sourcing strategies and the strategic procurement of their respective category. In addition, the Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing supplier relationships, including driving Total Value of Ownership and ongoing supplier performance, as well as coordinating efforts between internal stakeholders and the supplier account teams to meet procurement objectives.

The Senior Procurement Specialist will use their market knowledge to develop and deploy world-class approaches to spend management while utilizing e-procurement tools to deliver cost reduction. The Senior Procurement Specialist will also be responsible for negotiating, drafting, administering and managing commercial contracts.

The Senior Procurement Specialist is accountable for an IT sub category or assigned vendors with a primary expectation to: on IT categories and Technology Services, deliver on vendor negotiations driving value for money, execute category and sourcing strategies, spend category intelligence and analytics, contract negotiation, drafting and administration, and perform ongoing vendor performance monitoring and evaluation.

What you bring to this role

  • Strong IT Procurement Category Management experience (Hardware, on prem Software, SaaS, Cloud)
  • Solid understanding of the Cloud players
  • Expertise in contracting and understanding SaaS and Cloud terms
  • Experience with working with IT Services and System integrators
  • Solid understanding of negotiation theory, strategies and practices
  • Good understanding of Strategic sourcing concepts and best practices, related to the procurement of products and services
  • Strong Strategic Vendor Management subject-matter expertise
  • Strong Digital Mindset
  • Applauded for your “can-do” attitude and belief in the art of the possible
  • Recognized for driving change and innovation
  • Regarded as an exceptional communicator, influencer and negotiator, able to build and maintain effective partnerships internally and externally with all stakeholders, including senior leaders
  • Noted as having strong business and financial acumen
  • Proven experience in leading supplier negotiations and structuring deals, including establishing contract terms and conditions (i.e. pricing, performance management and SLA development), drafting legal agreements, and implementing risk mitigation best practices
  • Sought out for your ability to seek out, analyze and translate facts, data and intelligence into key insights, concept and recommendations
  • With a reputation for project execution excellence and achieving results in a complex environment
  • With a Bachelor’s degree in any domain
