Job Description

Burchell Wickwire Bryson LLP is a distinguished legal firm with a rich history and a promising future. Three extraordinary firms recently joined their complementary practice strengths, goals, approaches, and priorities to form Burchell Wickwire Bryson LLP, and are positioned among Nova Scotia’s largest full-service law firms. They are seeking a Senior Human Resources Manager to support their continued success by leading and enhancing their HR functions. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Senior Human Resources Manager will develop and implement a strategic HR plan that addresses the firm’s critical needs and fosters an evolving culture. This role will oversee a support team of legal assistants, administrators, and paralegals, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and resourcing to ensure the lawyers have the support they need to deliver exceptional client services.

As the Senior Human Resources Manager, you’ll drive strategic initiatives within the HR function. You will develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the firm’s long-term goals while optimizing operational efficiency by leading and mentoring support staff. Fostering a culture of trust and collaboration across the organization will be a key aspect of your role. You’ll serve as a strategic advisor to the partnership management committee, guiding recruitment efforts to enhance the firm’s brand and resolving complex HR issues with a forward-thinking approach. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping this role and cultivating the growth and development of the HR team, ensuring its alignment with the firm’s evolving needs and objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, with a minimum of seven years of progressive HR experience, including two years in a managerial role. Experience in a professional services firm is preferred. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and proven leadership abilities. In-depth knowledge of HR practices and principles, exceptional project management skills, and a high level of personal integrity and confidentiality are essential. They look forward to welcoming you to their team and seeing how you will help shape the future of their HR department.

Why Join?

• An excellent RRSP Program (with employer matching).
• Free onsite parking or transit pass provided.
