History of Service

Barnardo's is partnering with First Light in Cornwall to deliver the county-wide Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Service - Safer Futures.

We currently have one vacancy - we are seeking a passionate and dedicated professional to join our Cornwall team as Senior Healthy Relationship's Trainer.

The role of the Senior Healthy Relationships Trainer will be to coordinate and deliver the Healthy Relationships Programme to schools and professionals across Cornwall

You need to be compassionate, non-judgemental as well as being a skilled communicator who is able to develop partnership relationships quickly.

You need to be a “real human” and have a diverse set of skills and be able to work with people on their own or as part of a group. You'll need to demonstrate you are able to build relationships and get alongside people regardless of their situation and perceived barriers. We want to squash this myth that people are “hard to reach” – it's about us being more accessible.

You 100% need to be a team player. There will be times where you have to work on your own, but there will also be a strong team ethos throughout the Healthy Relationships team and beyond

Initial Specific Responsibilities

To deliver the Healthy Relationships Programme to schools across Cornwall, covering Key Stages 1, 2 & 3 (course content will be provided) This will include teacher and parent sessions.

To coordinate a small team of Healthy Relationships Trainers

To be the main contact for professionals who are interested in the course.

Recording of data/evaluation for reporting purposes

In due course possibly deliver the Multi Agency Domestic Abuse training courses (course content will be provided)

Expectations:

  • Experience of training delivery to children and young people in schools settings.
  • Experience of line management.
  • Knowledge of unhealthy relationships.
  • Liaise with schools, colleges and service management to ensure good communication is maintained.
  • To be skilled at engaging with others and building constructive working relationships.
  • Be able to negotiate when dealing with potential conflict in a training setting.
  • Reliability.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload and manage time commitment to working in ways which prioritise the training delivery.
  • An understanding of safeguarding procedures and the importance of consulting on risk concerns.
  • Ability to hold people to account for their behaviour and be comfortable with challenge.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing,with a range of people, both over the telephone and in person, sometimes over sensitive and/or complex issues.
  • Ability to manage administration, be computer literate and maintain effective recording system.

Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to June 2025 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement. This contract is due to expire on June 2025.
