Job Description

The Senior Fundraising Officer is responsible for leading the implementation of Project Ploughshares’ fundraising program. The Senior Fundraising Officer will oversee day-to-day fundraising functions, including running the organization’s major donor, direct mailing, and planned giving programs, as well as building and maintaining a support base to advance the mission of the organization. The Senior Fundraising Officer reports to the Director of Operations.Salary Range: $71,069 – $87,406

  • Contribute to developing a fundraising strategy.
  • Establish, manage, and run the annual giving program.
  • Cultivate major donors and secure planned gifts.
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, engage, and acquire new donors.
  • Expand and grow the direct mail, monthly, and online giving program.
  • Oversee the management of the donor database.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and expertise. CFRE designation a definite asset.
  • Significant fundraising experience with five years or more of progressively responsible experience, preferably in the charitable sector.
  • Experience in major gift fundraising.
  • Ability to think strategically and deliver results.
  • Interest in peace and security issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to form positive, collaborative working relationships with staff and supporting constituencies.
  • Good computer skills in the Windows environment and experience with fundraising systems and software (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate high personal ethical standards, sound judgement, confidentiality, and discretion.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Results-oriented and a creative thinker.
  • Experience with event organization.
  • Fundraising experience, knowledge, and connections in the Waterloo Region a definite asset.
  • Comfortable working with ecumenical networks and faith communities.
  • Understanding of Imagine Canada’s Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code, CRA guidelines, and Charitable Tax Law.
