Job Description

A.E.W. Limited Partnership (A.E.W. LP) is seeking a full-time on-going Senior Fisheries Biologist based out of beautiful Kamloops, BC. In this role, you will lead our efforts in conserving and managing fish populations within the Nlaka’pamux homeland, ensuring that all activities align with our mission. You will implement and oversee sustainable solutions that embody our principle of: “we take care of the land, and the land will take care of you,” while respecting our core values. The Senior Fisheries Biologist will: Oversee the collection of fish, fish habitat, and aquatic Collect, analyze and report on fish samples, fish migration and other fish Lead the design and implementation of fish and aquatic studies/field Recommend and implement programs for population monitoring, habitat design and effectiveness monitoring, resource planning, and risk mitigation. Perform statistical analyses on fisheries Review provincial and federal regulatory Conduct assessments and author reports that characterize fish population and habitat impacts resulting from environmental changes, human activities, and harvesting practices. Provide input on fish and fish habitat protection Provide oversight on provincial and federal regulatory requirements related to work in and around Commit to the protection and advancement of Nlaka’pamux title and Work in partnership with member communities of the Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council to ensure consistency of approaches and methodologies. Supervise junior staff and other field workers where appropriate Commitment to be a positive team member Requirements:

Sc. or M.Sc. or other environmental field with a focus on Fisheries. Registered Professional Biologist designation in BC with the BC College of Applied Biology or immediately Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in biology/fisheries Possess a current and valid driver’s license with acceptable drivers What makes you exceptional:

Experience working with Indigenous Communities Strong working knowledge of biostatistics and the ability to apply and interpret statistical Sound working knowledge of pertinent federal and provincial environmental legislation. Experience with designing and implementing scientific studies/field programs and managing field teams and the collection of fisheries/aquatic baseline data. Effective written and oral communication Strong understanding of freshwater fisheries in western High degree of technical aptitude in fisheries/aquatic Excellent organizational skills (prioritizing, time management, record keeping, follow up). Exceptional attention to detail and Strong interpersonal and communication Strong team player, self-motivated and proactive Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Adobe What makes AEW LP special?
