At Billyard Insurance Group, our mission is clear: to establish a nationally recognized insurance brokerage brand that empowers brokers and leads the digital insurance revolution.The Senior Financial Analyst, under the direction of the Controller, is primarily responsible for performing Financial Reporting, Planning, and Analysis. These tasks include, but are not limited to, preparing monthly financial reporting packages, quarterly consolidated reporting packages and banking covenants, building, presenting, and tracking budgets, updating cash flow projections and communicating results, acting in a senior role during the year end audit, preparing journal entries, reviewing bank reconciliations, reviewing commission reconciliations, and reviewing all books and records for all related companies. In conjunction with the accounting functions, the Senior Financial Analyst will assist in providing financial analysis of the current, future and prospective business initiatives.What does the Senior Financial Analyst do?Ensure timely preparation, analysis, and distribution of monthly financial reporting packagesConsolidate quarterly reporting packages and prepare banking covenantsDevelop, present, and track departmental budgetsPrepare and update cash flow projections Complete senior level year-end audit tasks including the development and reconciliation of supporting working papers Oversee and approve posting of journal entries, review general ledger and perform account reconciliationsReview bank reconciliationsReview commission reconciliationsReview all books and records for all related companiesSet priorities, meet deadlines, and manage demands individuallyCreate other forecasts and trend analyses, relating to the current business products, future and prospective initiatives, and changing trends in the Insurance marketContinue to improve the measurement and reporting of KPI’sCalculate annual Contingent Profit CommissionsMaintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reportingProvide advice and guidance to the Controller, VP of Finance & Administration, and all internal departments as necessaryCorrespond with Vendors to setup, update, and discuss payments timing and termsAssist in the training and mentorship of the Finance & Accounting teamPerform all other job-related tasks or special projects as directedDoes this sound like you?Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial dataKnowledge of GAAP, which outlines rules, standards, and principles that companies must follow when making financial statementsKnowledge of ASPEoutlines rules, standards, and principles that companies must follow when making financial statementsAbility to effectively use computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Power Broker, Applied, Market Portals) to create and manage spreadsheets, reports, documents, databases, filing systems, calendars, correspondence, and video conferencingAbility to listen and understand information and opinions conveyed through spoken wordsAbility to read and understand information and opinions conveyed in writingThe ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problemExperience reviewing other’s work and monitoring workloadsQualificationsPost-secondary education in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or related field requiredChartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing or working towardsA minimum of 5 years of proven experience in finance and/or accounting Experience working in the Insurance Industry an assetWhat We OfferCompetitive salaryPeople-focused company cultureComprehensive benefits including medical, dental & Employee Assistance Program (EAP)3 weeks vacation in year 1, 4 weeks in year 2Birthday day offHybrid work from home / in office environmentUncapped growth potentialRetirement savings programs, with company-matched RRSP contributionsOur Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion and BelongingBillyard Insurance Group is committed to building a transparent environment where everyone feels heard, welcomed and included.
