POSITION SUMMARY:
As a key member of our Finance/Operations team and reporting directly to the Senior Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst, plays a pivotal role in driving the financial oversight of the OpenROM capital project at the Museum. Tasked with delivering comprehensive financial reports and analyses in line with Canadian public sector accounting standards, this role demands precision and strategic financial acumen. Collaboration is at the heart of this position, requiring seamless interaction with various business units, departments, and external vendors to guarantee the integrity and accuracy of financial data and reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the accuracy and integrity of project costs, ensuring all financial activities are recorded in compliance with GAAP.
  • Craft comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reports, including capital and project reports, to provide a clear view of our financial landscape to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Keep a close eye on budget allocations versus actual expenditures, conducting thorough variance analyses to identify cost savings and preemptively flag potential overruns.
  • Monitor and report on the status of POs, ensuring expenditures align with project budgets and financial plans.
  • Spearhead the creation and tracking of capital project metrics and key performance indicators, providing actionable insights to optimize project performance and financial health.
  • Serve as the liaison between the project team and financedepartment, ensuring a symbiotic relationship where information flows freely and financial strategies are aligned with project goals.
  • Lead the preparation of forecasts and strategic financial planning for projects, using your insights to guide the future direction of our financial journey.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure all financial practices meet regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and present financial reporting packages for senior management, the Finance and Audit Committee, and other stakeholders, ensuring they are informed and engaged with our financial status and project progress.
  • Actively contribute to the financial team's knowledge sharing, assisting with tax-related research, analysis, reconciliations, and other financial reporting and analysis as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis, forecasting, and planning.
  • Proficient in financial modelling, analysis, and technical finance skills.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and organizational skills in financial tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial principles, and analytical techniques.
  • Experienced with MS Office 365; SAGE 300 ERP knowledge is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years in a project accounting or financial analyst role.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage stress, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, capable of collaborative work.
  • Self-starter, eager to work in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to operate both independently and within a team.
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
START DATE: ASAP

EMPLOYEE GROUP: Non-union
SALARY/HOURLY RATE:$85,000 – $ 94,000
SCHEDULE: 35 hours weekly
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: six (6) months
