Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Engineer for Open Pit Mine Planning, who will report to the Director of Mine Planning. This role is open to candidates across Canada and offers a unique opportunity to drive the technical and strategic mine planning initiatives.

The Senior Engineer will be instrumental in delivering technical expertise and support to the company’s open pit mines and projects. Responsibilities include conducting project evaluations, managing engineering studies, and assisting in the development of standardized reporting for Resources and Reserves.

We will be considering applicants from across Canada, but with a preference for those either in, or able to relocate to Vancouver. This role is a Hybrid role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review short- and long-term production plans, contributing to the overall strategic planning and operational performance.
  • Develop and optimize project execution schedules and economic evaluations to enhance productivity.
  • Lead technical studies (PEA, PFS, FS), including equipment analysis, economic trade-off studies, and 3D pit design.
  • Identify challenges and opportunities, employing engineering solutions to improve operational outcomes.
  • Conduct detailed sensitivity analyses on mining plans and cost models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hard-rock experience, with at least 2 years in an open pit operational setting.
  • PEng or equivalent designation in Canada. BC registration is preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of the entire mining process, from drilling to milling.
  • Strong technical abilities related to mine planning, and production cost forecasting.
  • Advanced understanding of various software’s including Whittle, Deswik, and Microsoft.
  • Ability to actively problem solve and rely on experience to enhance operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas effectively.
