Job Description

Reporting to the Product Development Manager for Hydrogen Infrastructure, the successful candidate will be expected to lead and execute electrical and control system design and documentation which will support the development of hydrogen fueling stations. You will work with a team of engineers, programmers, technicians and fabricators in developing new products and improving existing hydrogen fueling station designs. In this multidisciplinary environment, you will be involved in engineering design, process improvements, testing, quality control, and optimization.

The selected candidate will:
* Lead and execute PLC and HMI programming for hydrogen refueling equipment.
* Actively lead or participate in HAZOP studies.
* Size and specify instrumentation, electrical components and PLC/HMI hardware.
* Lead factory acceptance testing at Powertech.
* Lead cost reduction initiatives and hardware revisions based on market availability Support site commissioning work and troubleshoot instrumentation & control issues.
* Provide technical input and directions to technicians and electricians involved in the construction, testing and commissioning of hydrogen fueling stations.
* Independently strategize, analyze and design hydrogen fueling station control systems to meet customer requirements.
* Develop standardized processes and technical procedures and demonstrate a pro-active approach to sourcing of project materials and components.
* Review and align with the broader corporate objectives such as safety, quality and environment management.
* Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly evolving and growing environment where responsibilities and position scope may change
* Provide input and recommendations in the budget, work planning and resource allocation processes for the sector.
* Exercise a high degree of independent judgment to solve highly complex problems that have an impact across sectors and include customers, technology, financial planning and staffing.

Qualifications
* Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent from a recognized university.

* Registration or ability to immediately register as a professional engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (i.e., non-British Columbia registrations are acceptable as long as there is an ability to immediately transfer the accreditation).

* Minimum Eight years of experience in an industrial controls design and programming environment with a strong working knowledge in the following areas:
- Industrial automation.
- Low/medium voltage electrical design, motor control circuit, cabinet layout, analog circuit, industrial network communication.
- PLC and HMI programming from concept to execution (RSLogix/Studio 5000 – Ladder Logic) Instrumentation specifications and troubleshooting.
- Hazardous area electrical design installation.
- AutoCAD design.
- Proficient with relevant codes and standards (CSA C22.1, NFPA 70, NFPA 79)

* Experience reading and working with:
- Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and designing electrical/controls systems to meet the process requirements.
- Hydrogen or other high pressure gas experience is desired.
- FS Eng (TUV Rheinland) designation is considered an asset.
- UL508A manufacturer technical representative qualifications is considered an asset.

In addition, the following are desired competencies:
* Entrepreneurial and a proven track record in matching market information with an evolving service offering.
* Demonstrated ability to manage and execute a portfolio of projects covering all technical, resource and financial aspects.
* Able to listen and encourage open dialogue with project team members. Able to receive constructive feedback and present alternate points of view to Managers and stakeholders.
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to build successful relationships, make presentations to technical and non-technical audiences and liaise with peers in industry.
* Impart engineering knowledge and encourage the professional development of engineers.
* Be able to work under pressure and multitask to deliver high quality outcome.

Job status : Full time Regular
Job level : P3 (candidates with lesser qualifications and experience will be considered at a more appropriate grade level).
Job location : Surrey - in office
