What will the Senior Director of People and Culture do?
The Senior Director of People & Culture will report directly to the Vice President, Aviation and will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and managing our Human Resources Strategy in support of the Vice President’s Annual Strategic Plan. The primary purpose of this position is to manage and deliver a full range of both operational and strategic HR services to internal stakeholder groups (Leadership, Operations and Quality Assurance) and to facilitate maximum engagement in the day-to-day management of our People & Culture Managers who specialize in one or more areas, including: Talent Acquisition, Employee Care (Labour Relations), Training & Development and Occupational Health & Safety. Detailed responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Foster a collaborative relationship with the unions throughout the region, building strong relationships and cohesive solutions for the employee base and operations.
• Possess the ability to exercise strong conflict management skills to proactively resolve grievances, disputes, and conflicts in the workplace.
• Collaborate with leadership and counsel to develop policies that will foster a positive culture while aligning with collective bargaining agreements and industry requirements.
• Attend and participate in collective bargaining, leading the team with best practices, strategies and decisions to foster PASS’s cultural alignment.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and counsel to prepare investigations, summaries and responses for litigation, arbitration, and escalated investigations.
• Ensure consistent application of human resources policies, directives and procedures aligned with Corporate People & Culture Department with customization to CATSA deliverables outlined under the service agreement.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure successful implementation of HR Metrics are achieved according to Regional and individual airport needs and goals, including but not limited to gender parity and bilingual representation.
• Implement, in collaboration with the organizational leaders and within the context of the National framework, the professional development strategy for the region with support from the Manager, Training & Development.
• Review, manage, monitor, and make improvements to the performance review process based on feedback from the Operations Leadership Team, including the Vice President, Senior Director, Operations Directors, and Managers for the Prairies Region.
• Serve as a business partner with Screening Operations leadership by advising management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues and safeguarding that all employee needs are being managed in a professional and timely manner in accordance with the Collective Agreements.
• Works within the context of the framework of Paladin’s Corporate People & Culture Department to develop, implement, administer, and evaluate human resources policies considering applicable Federal legislation and CATSA Contractor Directives to meet operational needs.
• Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting compliance, including, but not limited to Federal Government Employer’s Equity Program and Occupational Health & Safety.
What you bring to PASS:
• Post secondary education in Human Resources or Human Resources Management and/or CPHR /CHRL Designation is a strong asset.
• Experience working in a Canadian Federally Regulated industry is a strong asset.
• Extensive experience providing leadership in Labour Relations in a multi-union environment, inclusive of leading collective bargaining.
• Strategic, analytical, and data driven decision making and problem-solving experience within the HR Function.
• Solid understanding and experience of core HR functions -talent acquisition, performance management, training and development, labour relations and Occupational Health and Safety.
• Expert communication skills. Able to effectively tailor communication to various stakeholders to build strong and trusting relationships. Developed ability to influence business decisions, drive initiatives and build a positive workplace culture.
• Proven leadership experience through leading large multi-disciplined teams whilst creating an atmosphere of collaboration, curiosity, accountability, teamwork and excellence.
• Results driven with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment; equally adept at providing leadership as well as working side by side with the team while delivering on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Eligible to obtain Transport Security Clearance from Transport Canada and Secret Federal Security Clearance
