A Brief Overview
As an experienced fundraising professional, the Senior Development Officer plays a key role on the Smith School of Business Development and Alumni Relations team. The Senior Development Officer is responsible for the full scope of development activity across their portfolio including assessment, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors.

Reporting to the Director, Development, Smith School of Business, the Senior Development Officer will build strong relationships and partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders to enhance and diversify the prospect and donor pipeline and maximize philanthropic support. The Senior Development Officer prioritizes, plans, evaluates and executes prospect and donor strategies that result in major gifts at the $50,000+ level. This includes evaluating, fostering, and managing prospect and donor relationships, developing strategies and proposals, and leading solicitations required to achieve major gift fundraising targets.This position prioritizes, plans, executes, and evaluates strategies that result in major gifts. This position builds strong partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders to expand and diversify the prospect pool. This position evaluates a diverse portfolio of accounts and donor relationships including developing the case and preparing the funding requests needed to achieve major gift fundraising targets.The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work variable hours on a regular basis, including evenings and weekends. In addition, travel is an inherent part of the position. This position is subject to the Averaging and Travel Time Credit provisions of the USW Local 2010 Collective Agreement.
