Job Description

Leading global cost, project management, risk advisory has an immediate opening for a Senior Cost Consultant within the Cost Consulting & Project Management division. Locations in Vancouver BC, Toronto ON and Ottawa ON. Salary $120,000 – $140,000. The Senior Cost Consultant will provide a variety of cost estimating consulting services to new and existing clients primarily within residential real estate, and partner with other business units to explore synergy opportunities. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.Key Responsibilities of Senior Cost Consultant:Provide a full range of cost estimating services to new and existing clientsPrepare estimates at various stages of the design process, from conceptual design to pre-tender stageConduct needs analysis and innovate solutions which meet the client’s unique requirementsCompletion of design efficiency analysis, along with full trade and elemental take-offProduce benchmarking reports for construction and development costsPricing of estimatesConduct tender analysis and cost reconciliation exercisesPrepare front-end cost reports to support cost estimatesUndertaking and completion of periodic site inspections & estimating reportsAssist in preparation of change order review analysis and lifecycle cost estimatesThe Senior Cost Consultant will maintain ongoing client communication and resolve issues as required. Escalate issues to the next level of management as required.Collaborate with various internal/external partners to obtain the necessary information to prepare proposals/reportsManage client relationships in a manner that leads to contract renewal, referrals and service expansion including up-sells and cross-sellsSome overnight travel may be required on an as needed basisExperience of Senior Cost ConsultantThe Senior Cost Consultant will have 5+ years of related experience in cost estimatingDegree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related disciplineExcellent communication, both verbal and writtenIntermediate level of understanding of construction estimatesGeneral understanding of residential/ICI/civil projectsExperience working at a consulting firm (billable environment) is an assetMember of RICS or LEED accreditation is an assetUnderstanding of the construction industry – development, contracting & consultant servicesExcellent knowledge of Sharepoint, Excel, Word, and measurement softwareWorking knowledge of CostX, Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Project is an assetStrong knowledge of CIQS standard method of measurement – elemental/trade, Provincial lien act and Standard contract conditions – CCDCUnderstanding of various procurement methods and schedulingThe Senior Cost Consultant will have the ability to work in a team and independentlyIntermediate knowledge of trade roles, construction sequencing and building product knowledgeIntermediate understanding of MEPOur Client is committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment where employees feel valued and respected, and where every employee has the opportunity to realize their potential.
