Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Location:

Mississauga

Your Responsibilities:

Carry out, in collaboration with the technical staff, the foundation, structural, building, and civil engineering design for low, medium, and high voltage electrical transmission and distribution substation projects.

Prepare work plans and tenders for new projects.

Supervise and develop junior/intermediate engineers and technicians.

Participate in ongoing customer relations, inspections, and site interventions.

Design feasibility and detail engineering plans for electrical infrastructure.

Analysis and design of electrical substation buildings.

Perform interventions in terms of surface and underground work.

Follow up on the preparation of civil engineering plans and specifications originally prepared by a civil engineer.

Design structural steel and concrete drawings according to the 3D analysis and design codes in use in Canada and internationally.

Supervise CAD technicians in the preparation of drawings.

Supervise structural inspectors in the preparation of inspection reports and repair designs.

Prepare specifications for buildings, foundations, and structural work.

Your Profile:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent.

Minimum ten (10) years of professional experience in civil structural engineering.

Member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.

Experience in the energy sector’s infrastructure, structures, and buildings.

Familiar with building codes and major design codes and standards.

Proficiency with structural engineering software and computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Working knowledge of Revit and BIM software (asset).

Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Effective organizational and report writing skills.

Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, good sense of priorities, and attention to details.

Have initiative, good observation skills, curiosity, and ingenuity.
