Job Description

Our client, a major midstream company, is looking for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join their team on a 1-year contract in Calgary.
Responsibilities:Prepare and maintain civil/structural technical specifications and standards.Support maintenance and administration of the corporate AML as applicable. •Interface with Project Managers, other design disciplines, and EPCM’s to execute assigned engineering work; Provide direction and oversight to engineering activities performed by EPCM’s in respect to civil and structural work.Approval of critical documents such as Bid Lists, Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, calculations, etc to support procurement.Provide guidance, calculations, and detailed drawings as required for civil and structural modifications at existing operating assets Review technical documents such as geotechnical reports and provide recommendations to select the best foundations, piles and supports for equipment and piping.Design or provide input to civil/structural systems associated with pump station, tanks, vessels, columns, piping, and other equipment, as well as facility drainage and site grading.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Junior Engineers as required. •Perform design review, design verification, and authentication for the design and engineering work done by others.Perform shop/field walk-downs during construction/fabrication phasesProviding technical advice on design processes or construction methods •Advises on the development of new engineering methods and participates in short and long-range planningEnsure construction and field modifications meet the requirements of all applicable codes, standards, and regulations
Qualifications:University Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.Registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta.15+ years of engineering experience in delivering projects and/or providing operational supportThorough understanding of standard engineering methods, technologies, and computerized design techniquesHave an in depth understanding of applicable regulatory requirements in North America.Strong understanding of applicable regulations such as OH&S, ABC, NBC, and CSAExperience in Finite Element Analysis principles, methods, and software applications is an asset.Experience in integrity assessment and repair methods is an asset.
