Job Description

The Senior Buyer is primarily responsible to manage branch purchasing activities, including parts research, supplier identification, and placing and managing supplier PO’s. Ability and availability to perform all typical inventory management and warehousing and logistics functions as well as any other related or requested customer supporting requirements assigned from time to time. Should be able to fill in for Parts Pro. Other tasks that may be reasonably requested from time to time. Job Requirements: 5 – 7 years of Purchasing experience in industrial, automotive or similar type componentsSupplier management3-5 years of Supervisory experienceStrong skill set in Microsoft Word and ExcelProficiency in use of computer based systemsMust fluently speak and communicate in English. Any additional languages are beneficial and would be considered an advantageKnowledge and Experience within the Industrial or Automotive parts market place would be an asset.Planning, forecasting, other priorities as assignedWorking knowledge of warehouse operations including inventory knowledge, shipping, receiving, cycle counts, etc… Principle Responsibilities: Placement of purchase orders with suppliers based upon system generated requirement informationPrice confirmation and expected delivery date as requiredCustomer and internal collaborationExpedite and follow up on purchase orders to improve or confirm expedited delivery dates as required by Supervisor or as Business dictatesProblems resolution for accounting and receiving discrepancies, particularly with respect to communication with suppliers’ for purchase orders the Buyer placedCreating and maintaining documentation / records of communication with the supplier Principle Decisions: Supplier selection where the business system allows secondary suppliers to be usedPrice agreement within guidelines set by the local supervision or business policiesDelivery date escalation and negotiations within guidelines set by the local supervision or business policies Problem Resolutions: Typically problems will be brought to the attention of local supervision for guidance, except where guidelines have been set to allow the incumbent to resolve the problem.
