Work schedule:

Monday to Friday days (900am-500pm).

Range: $47.86 - $58.77

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Analytics & Business Intelligence, and working directly with other members of the Business Intelligence and Decision Support team and/or individuals at various levels within the organization, you will:

  • Manage the BI Server software administration and maintenance in collaboration with I.T.
  • Gather business requirements for BI products in collaboration with manager and business partners.
  • Develop and maintain logical BI data models that support needs that are currently defined while being adaptable to future needs.
  • Develop Extract, Translate, and Load (ETL) processes to populate the data warehouse.
  • Act as a backup to the Database Administrator for the basic maintenance of the database servers that support the BI environment.
  • Develop and maintain naming and object organization standards in collaboration with the BI team.
  • Specify and build dashboards, scorecards, tools, and reports that support strategic and operational goals.
  • Prototype and conceptualize the solution through dashboard visualization of data based on business requirements.
  • Conduct data quality investigations and engage in continuous data quality improvements.
  • Commit to, and actively work to remain knowledgeable and up to date in the assigned field.
  • Challenge the status quo and recommend innovative ways to improve reporting process efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working with data analytics and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle) in a similar role.
  • Ability to write complex SQL code, create automated schedules, modify/create views, and manage stored procedures and run performance tuning to optimize queries.
  • Hands-on knowledge of data warehousing, data modelling and relational database concepts and schemas.
  • Experience in working with administrating Power BI.
  • Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Pages, Power Automate).
  • Proven well-developed computer skills and data modelling and design to support health care operations.
  • Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in synthesis and documentation of comprehensive findings for consultation reports.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital-related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
  • Display a positive attitude toward complex challenges as well as routine maintenance and administration tasks.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision and also possessing a positive team-spirited attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Adhering to confidentiality and privacy requirements for sensitive financial and clinical information.

Considered an asset:

  • Training in Business Intelligence methods and tools (BI certification preferred e.g. MCSE BI or MCSE Data Management and Analytics).
  • Experience in a healthcare decision support environment is an asset.
  • Experience with hospital data sets (e.g., DAD, NACRS, NRS, etc.), patient information systems, finance, HR, decision support and metrics.
  • Experience in working with a Business intelligent tool, particularly “Information Builders” and “Power BI."
  • Experience with Python.
  • Knowledge of health care reporting requirements (e.g., OHRS and MIS guidelines).
