Overview
The Senior Business Analyst will support Morgan Stanley's Infrastructure and Financial Planning Analytics Technology (IFPAT) group by capturing, analyzing, and converting business requirements into functional designs. The role plays a critical part in driving process improvement across areas such as Program & Portfolio Management, Workforce Planning, Budgeting, Capital Management, and more. The candidate will collaborate with diverse user groups and technical teams across the back office (Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal, etc.) to ensure timely and accurate solution delivery.
Responsibilities
- Engage with business stakeholders to gather requirements and define functional specifications
- Create wireframes, flow diagrams, and document business processes and application behavior
- Convert user requirements into detailed user stories and maintain them in Jira
- Develop test cases, assist in system and UAT planning and execution
- Support training initiatives through coordination with business units and training departments
- Participate in daily production support activities and help resolve application issues
- Contribute to project management tasks such as project planning, status reporting, and governance
- Perform gap analysis, cross-functional process flows, and use case modeling
- Maintain accurate documentation throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle
- Support financial management functions such as workforce and capital budgeting, IT funding, or spend tracking
- Collaborate across global teams and communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders
Required Skills
- Proficient in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and managing backlogs, user stories, and test cases
- Experience with UI wireframing, data analysis, and documenting business rules
- Skilled in requirements gathering, process mapping, and functional design documentation
- Strong experience with project management frameworks and tools
- Hands-on experience with tools like Jira, MS Office (including Visio), and SharePoint
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to engage in root cause analysis and implement effective resolutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated ownership of financial/business processes (e.g., budgeting, forecasting, fiscal planning)
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, with strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Able to work in a global, cross-functional team environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting financial management systems and processes
- Familiarity with IT funding request management or capital budgeting systems
