Senior Building Envelope Consultant / Lead, Burnaby, BC
We’re on the hunt to add some technical and leadership horsepower to our growing Building Envelope Consulting client. They are going through significant growth period and are expecting increase their existing team by over 30% in the coming 9-12 months. In turn, not only are they looking to add staff at all levels, but also to their management team.
The various roles encompass a diverse range of responsibilities, from evaluating and assessing existing structures (residential, commercial, industrial, etc) to communicating with clients and working on construction sites. The ability to provide top-notch client service and deliver innovative solutions is clearly paramount. Adaptability and a proactive approach are highly valued in this role, given the need to work independently and take on responsibility swiftly. With these qualities, the successful candidate can excel in ensuring the integrity and functionality of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Oversee projects and liaise with clients from initial concept to final execution.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments and evaluate existing building structures and envelope systems.
  • Develop rehabilitation plans for building envelopes and structures, proposing concepts to clients.
  • Design and analyze building components and envelope systems for upgrades and enhancements.
  • Produce comprehensive reports, studies, retrofit drawings, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with other engineering and architectural teams for seamless integration.
  • Administer contracts and oversee construction, ensuring adherence to building science principles and restoration standards.
  • Tasks include Building Envelope Condition Assessments, Design Review, Field Inspections, Quality Assurance, Drawing and Specification Preparation.

What the successful candidate will bring:
  • Professional Engineer (PEng) or Registered Architect (Architect AIBC)
  • 5+ years of experience within the building science discipline
  • Experience with structural design is a plus
  • Ability to lead, mentor and train staff
