Mirmil Products, Campbellford ON, are looking to hire a Full Time Senior Architectural Millwork Finisher for their Campbellford location.

Job Description/Qualifications:

Job Title: SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK FINISHER

Reports to: Production Supervisor Indirectly Reports to: Lead Hand Direct Reports: None Indirect Reports: None Classification: hourly

Summary/Objective: The Senior Architectural Millwork Finisher is accountable for applying the final finishes and coatings to high-end custom millwork projects, including cabinetry, doors, moldings, panels, and other architectural elements.

Experience with metal coating techniques and finishes would be an asset.

Meticulous attention to detail, expert knowledge of finishing techniques, and commitment to delivering exceptional craftsmanship will be instrumental in creating stunning and durable finishes on our millwork projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create, monitor and maintain a well kept, organized and safe working environment while promoting, complying with and enforcing adherence to health and safety rules, regulations, procedures and policies
  • Prepare millwork surfaces for finishing by sanding, filling, and ensuring proper surface smoothness and cleanliness.
  • Select and apply appropriate stains, sealers, paints, varnishes, lacquers, and other finishes based on project requirements.
  • Operate and maintain various finishing equipment, such as spray guns, pumps, brushes, rollers, and other tools.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of different wood species and their unique characteristics, ensuring the appropriate application of finishes to achieve desired results.
  • Apply finishes evenly and with precision, paying close attention to details such as color matching, grain consistency, and texture.
  • Evaluate finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards, making any necessary touch-ups or adjustments as required.
  • Create custom stains and finishes to match architects’ samples.
  • Develop and implement standard procedures for common finishing techniques.
  • Work with Production Manager to determine achievable schedules and allocation of human resources.
  • Develop and implement training procedures for new employees in the department.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and materials related to architectural millwork finishing, making recommendations for process improvements as appropriate.
  • Ensure sufficient inventory and select correct product as per work orders
  • Handle and organize output to maximize efficiency and minimize processing errors and damage
  • Adhere to cleaning and maintenance protocols for tools, equipment and working areas
  • Inform supervisors of any repairs required or faults to tools, equipment and working areas
  • Ensure and constantly improve the safety, morale, quality and profitability of our operations through the ongoing implementation of effective methods and strategies
  • Communicate and uphold company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times

  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in finishes across multiple projects.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills to interact with, instruct and inform others
  • Extensive experience as a Senior Architectural Millwork Finisher, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality finishes on custom millwork projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with specialty finishes such as coursing, high gloss lacquer finishes, dyed veneers, and bleaching.
  • Expertise in all aspects of finish and veneer repairs.
  • Profound knowledge of different wood species, their properties, and how finishes interact with them.
  • Experience in a wide range of finishing techniques, including staining, sealing, painting, varnishing, and lacquering.
  • Proficient in using various finishing tools and equipment, such as spray guns, brushes, rollers, sanders, and related machinery.
  • Strong colour perception and the ability to match colors precisely.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and adjust to achieve desired results.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and practices related to finishing materials and equipment.
  • Proactive approach with demonstrated initiative and ability to be flexible
  • Ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn

Requirements (education/certifications/licenses/passport/clean drivers abstract):

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certifications or technical training in woodworking, finishing, or related fields are preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Senior Architectural Millwork Finisher or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience working on high-end custom millwork projects, such as cabinetry, paneling, doors, and trim.
  • Experience with automated finishing equipment would be considered an asset.
  • A portfolio showcasing previous work and projects will be highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS and associated safety standards Working Conditions: All applicable areas within the millwork facility; machine operation
