Job Description

The CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB) provides an innovative, competency-based learning program to more than 15,000 learners in Western and Northern Canada who are completing their formal education towards certification as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in Canada. CPAWSB delivers the CPA Preparatory Courses and the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) through a combination of online distance learning and face-to-face modules which prepare candidates for the national Common Final Examination (CFE). The School is dedicated to providing excellent service in meeting learners’ education and support needs and to working effectively with everyone.The Senior Analyst of Business Intelligence is the go-to authority on data, reporting and comprehensive analysis for both internal clients and external partners. The Senior Analyst is a full time, permanent position which contributes to the sculpting and steering CPAWSB’s business intelligence technology infrastructure and data strategy while adeptly crafting tailor-made reports to enrich learner proficiency, enhance educational programs and fortify data-driven decision-making endeavors. Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesInclude but are not limited to:Perform analysis and create reporting to support progress toward the Learning function’s strategic objectives, primarily to optimize learner competency and performance.Manage collection of survey data, perform analysis and create insightful reporting.Analyze business requirements, construct conceptual models and data flow processes.Maintain data extraction and transformation functions through Microsoft’s Power Platform.Identify operational improvements from a business intelligence perspective.Understand customer relationship management (CRM) tables and provide feedback on data accuracy and integrity.Develop ad-hoc reporting and analysis for internal clients and external provincial partners, including performance and predictive analytics.Enable effective forecasting of learner enrollments, performance and intervention analysis.Participate in the development and implementation of relevant data management and governance in collaboration with Communications, Corporate Services, Finance, Learning and Information Systems teams.Ensure compliance with School privacy policies and all applicable privacy legislation when carrying out all job duties and functions and obligation to report known or suspected breaches of privacy.Knowledge and Experience RequiredInclude but are not limited to:Five years’ experience in a coordination role in a business context.Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field (Statistics, Business Analytics, Business); or equivalent.Demonstrate an advanced level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.Expert proficiency with Microsoft Power BI and data visualization.Knowledge of the Canadian accounting world, with a focus on the various CPA Western School of Business programs, resources, and policies, in addition to public accounting requirements is preferred, but not required.Experience working within a remote work environment with employees in various provinces, an assetSkills and Abilities Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex insights to both technical and non-technical partners.Ability to prioritize competing tasks.Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.Commitment to continuous improvement and a thirst for knowledge.Highly motivated, shows initiative and flexibility.Ability to adapt as the School changes and evolves.Ability to manage confidential information and/or issues using discretion, sensitivity, empathy, and sound judgment.Proficiency with SQL, Python, R or other Business Intelligence program languages.Willingness to travel across Western Canada.Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.The School offers a hybrid work model. The CPAWSB is based primarily in Edmonton, Calgary or Vancouver. If based outside of the centers, the successful candidate may be required to travel to a CPAWSB office from time to time, or as required. The salary range for this role is $78,800 to $118,100.
