Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst who will oversee the revenue recognition and financial reporting at Novartis. As part of the Canadian team, you will be responsible for ensuring proper general ledger and revenue accounting, as well as accurate and timely financial statements reporting, while collaborating with key stakeholders within the business.This role will work directly with the Recording to Reporting team and reports to the Manager of Revenue Accounting and Financial Reporting. Major accountabilities:Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Prepare and post monthly journal entries to ensure the proper recognition of revenue, with a main focus on accounting for revenue deductionsPerform balance sheet account reconciliations for complex accounting topics (i.e. revenue deals, business development & licensing deals, leases, etc.) and ensure timely resolution and clean-up of overdue items identifiedPrepare month-end financial reporting schedules in accordance with IFRS and Novartis required standardsInteract proactively with the finance team to ensure that appropriate accounting, financial reporting and settlement of revenue matters is accomplishedClosely collaborate and provide support to the business on the accounting treatment of complex transactions to ensure accurate and complete financial information, including preparation of technical accounting position papersProvide support to the business for ad hoc requests related to accountingKey performance indicators:Internal customer satisfaction with quality, appropriateness, and timeliness of financial analyses provided -Customer satisfaction of service delivery and process specific meaningful metrics in accordance with agreed SLAs.CPA Designation2 - 4 years accounting experienceStrong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) and their applicationStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomouslyExcellent analytical and organizational skillsDetail-oriented with an ability to work under tight deadlinesAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPointFrench and English mandatory (spoken and written)Experience with SAP, an assetSkills:Financial Accounting and ReportingAnalyticalDetail-OrientedCritical Thinking.Continuous Operational ImprovementRapid Problem SolvingCompliance and ControlsLanguages :French and English mandatory (spoken and written)Why Novartis: Helping people with disease and their families takes more than innovative science.
