Job Description

A well-established client, is looking for a Senior Accountant with excellent business acumen to be part of their executive management team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a local company that truly values the contributions of its staff.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccounting FunctionsGenerating monthly/annual financial statements and ad hoc financial analysis to support the business decisions of the company to include ongoing variance analysis (prior year vs. current year and budget vs. actual)Managing the credit relationship and monthly collections of key accountsCollection calls, payment terms, placing accounts on-holdWorking with third party collection firmsDeveloping annual operational budgets in consultation with the PresidentManaging the cash flow and forecasting functionsAssessing and documenting internal controlsPreparing monthly and year end working papers/account analysis (including the management of quarterly/annual inventory counts)Managing the relationship with the external auditors, bankers, lawyers and insurance providersMaintaining policy and procedure documentation for financial and accounting processesCoordinating all governmental audits and compliance requirements such as licensesUtilize existing tools, reports and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the President and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operationsSupporting systems or project selections and their implementation from a strategic finance & internal control perspectiveOversight of all finance/accountingOperational FunctionsMeets regularly with Managers to offer additional insightAnalyzes product pricing, costing and marginsSeeks out, negotiates, and manages strategic partnerships that can offer additional revenue opportunitiesManages legal; relationship with Strategic PartnersAssists in recruiting Store ManagersImplements Management performance bonus systems in place for Store ManagersNegotiates and drafts contracts with third-party LesseesCalculates and reviews bonuses for store ManagersWorks with community groups, civic officials, lawyers and other professionals on rezoning and/or site plan approvals for new store development.Human Resources FunctionsManaging group insurance & benefit plansSupport for Hiring, training, mentoringCoordinating annual employee reviewsMaintaining and administering all human resource policies, procedures and programsQualificationsProfessional accounting designation (CPA CA, CPA CMA or CPA CGA) would be considered an asset.3-5 years offinancial control and management reporting experience.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.Ability to work well with existing staff under pressure, manage time effectively, and prioritize responsibilities.Excellentwritten and verbalcommunication skills.Welch LLP is recruiting on behalf of our client.Our client welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
