Senior Accountant - Burlington (In Office Role) - $80,000 - $90,000Scope of the PositionThe Senior Accountant is responsible for providing both technical and administrative support to the finance functions. This includes preparing reporting, maintaining filing and organizational systems, and communicating with customers, suppliers and employees as necessary. The Senior Accountant will accurate accounts, upkeep of project reporting and compliance of all required reporting. The Senior Accountant is a key member of the finance team and will help guide the AP and AR Specialist, while working hand in hand with other finance and management team members.Major ResponsibilitiesLiaise with Project Managers to establish project standing, generate financial forecasts for projects and identify risks and opportunities.Identify cost impacts of schedules, with projections on absorptions and labour costing.Develop new tools that tie in operational capacity directly to cost in a way that allows for pro-active as opposed to reactive decisions making (i.e. consider impact of underutilized capacity, use of overtime, project schedules, etc.)Based on analysis, make recommendations to operational leadership that will drive the fiscally responsible decision makingWork closely with the Finance team on project cost analysisEstablish of analytical tools and reports necessary to better support decision making and operational requirementsPrepare monthly cashflow projectionsPrepare/assist with preparing month end entries, including generating P&L and Balance SheetEnsure Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable subledgers are maintained on time and accurately. Ensure accurate cost coding and subsequent follow-up.Assist in the design, preparation and upkeep of budgets for review by managementManage remittances and remittances by deadlines, as requiredOther ad-hoc requests and analysis as requestedEducation & Training3+ years of Project or Corporate Accounting role in the Construction or Engineering sectorA recognized university degree or college diploma focused on financeSpecific training and excellent skills related to computer usage and ERP/accounting systemsCPA designation preferred or working towardsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office
