Job Description
The Senior Accountant, Corporate Reporting, will be an important part of a growing team of accounting professionals focusing primarily on the Canadian Multi-family Rental portfolio. This role requires a dynamic, energetic, and highly motivated individual who can join the team in a senior capacity with growth opportunities.Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to the Manager, Corporate Reporting.
- Prepare and analyse consolidated financial statements and other key financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate monthly meetings with senior management and report on monthly portfolio results.
- Co-ordinate closely with internal property accounting team, asset management and property operations during month-end and quarter-end close and perform a detailed review of results.
- Assist with quarterly valuation process by coordinating with asset management and assessing and interpreting asset values in accordance with the Company’s valuation policy.
- Prepare and review journal entries such as reclassifications, eliminations, intercompany, etc.
- Improve and document month-end procedures and workbooks to enhance the accuracy of financial reporting.
- Assist in the design and preparation of the corporate consolidated financial statements and supplemental disclosures.
- Assist in the setup of new joint ventures and other transactions, where applicable.
- Prepare accounting memos to determine appropriate accounting treatment under IFRS and other accounting standards, as necessary.
- Assist in new ERP system implementation.
- Assist with special and ad hoc projects as necessary.
Education, Experience and Skills:
- Must be a CPA or on track to become a CPA.
- 3+ years of industry or audit firm experience (Big 6 preferred).
- A self-starter who is able to work independently in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and adheres to high standards for work quality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a good work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
