Job Description

Matchbox Consulting Group is currently searching for a Senior Accountant to join one of the top real estate development companies in BC. The successful candidate would be CPA designated with minimum 3 years of progressive experience in corporate accounting. This role will be situated in their Burnaby head office.Responsibilities:Accounting and reporting:Responsible for the timely preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for strategic business units, specifically regarding the development and construction segments of the businessSupport certain project reporting objectives as requiredCollaborate with other senior accountants to prepare and review quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for individual entities and consolidated corporate groupsResponsible for full cycle accounting for business units and certain holding companiesCollaborate with the corporate and project accounting groups to ensure the integrity and consistency of accounting records in accordance with GAAP and group reporting standards, including: Identifying, researching, and coordinating adoption and implementation of complex or new GAAP accounting issues as they arise.Coordinate and follow all aspects of quarter end close activities to meet deadlines, including preparation of complex consolidated working papersPrepare annual audit information and supporting documents.Review and post bank reconciliations, invoices and all types of journal entries, including detailed review of coding.Budgeting and forecasting:Oversee the corporate budgeting process for the construction and development divisions, including leading management meetings to set targets and explain variancesResponsible for developing and reporting on various financial and non-financial KPI’s for construction and developmentAssist with the cash flow forecasting process for projects and the construction/development business unitsOther duties:Mentor and develop junior staff by providing support and guidanceEvaluate, develop, implement, and document improvements to accounting procedures and systems to maximize efficiency and quality in the accounting group, specifically as they relate to project accountingSupport cash management and treasury requirementsAssist with special projects and other duties as assigned by managementDesired Skills and Experience: CPA Designated3+ years of experience with exposure to project accounting and real estate developmentStrong understanding of ASPE, experience with REALpac is an assetHigh level experience in computer skills: Microsoft Office, experience using MS ExcelExperience with Timberline, Timberscan and Caseware is an assetEffective problem solving, organizational and time management skillsHeadquartered in downtown Vancouver and serving clients nationally, MatchBox is a recruitment and solutions firm that specializes in the fields of IT & Technology, Engineering & Technical and Accounting & Finance.We offer unrivaled expertise with a team that has many years of experience in the recruitment and professional services industry.
