Job Overview:
As the Sanitation/Production Supervisor, you will oversee both sanitation operations and production activities during the night shift at our facility. You will ensure that all equipment, surfaces, and facilities meet regulatory and company cleanliness standards, maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for our production of frozen fruit products. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth production processes and timely start-ups.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of 15 employees, including sanitation workers and production operators, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to sanitation and production, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Coordinate and prioritize daily activities, including cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, processing areas, and storage facilities.
- Conduct regular inspections to assess cleanliness levels and identify areas for improvement, maintaining detailed records of sanitation activities.
- Monitor chemical usage and storage to maintain proper inventory levels and safety protocols.
- Collaborate closely with production and quality assurance teams to schedule sanitation activities that minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
- Ensure timely start-up of production lines by coordinating with production supervisors and maintenance teams, and actively participating in production activities as needed.
- Facilitate effective communication between shifts and departments to ensure smooth transitions and accurate handovers of responsibilities.
- Train and mentor team members on sanitation procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to standards.
- Oversee production operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and efficiency goals.
- Monitor production processes, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure product quality.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to address equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate production records and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in sanitation and production roles within the food manufacturing industry, preferably in frozen food production.
- Strong understanding of sanitation principles, practices, and regulatory requirements, with a keen eye for detail and cleanliness.
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- English and French required to serve our internal and external customers. Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility to do overtime as needed, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring operational excellence.
- Able to work in a cold environment and handle loads from 20lb to 40lb (10-20kg).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
- Certification in sanitation or related field (e.g., HACCP, GMP, SQF).
- Experience with automated cleaning systems and chemical handling.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- First Aider certified (preferred).
