Who are we looking for?

Our Western Canada Transportation Group is looking for a Roadway Engineering Lead to join our growing team with a focus on the Alberta market. This position can be based in either Calgary or Edmonton. The Transportation Group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and Municipal transportation agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on large scale projects across the whole Transportation spectrum of highways, roads and bridges, transit and multi-modal infrastructure, and transportation planning.

Our team provides integrated transportation services throughout the project lifecycle from initial policy, transportation economics and business case advice, through concept, environmental assessment, detailed design and construction administration. This role will leverage your client relationships and technical expertise to win and deliver projects locally, regionally and internationally. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  1. Client focused leader who will develop and lead a portfolio of projects & clients
  2. Contribute to and lead business and strategic development initiatives for regional objectives and targeted client programming
  3. Provide thought leadership, subject matter expertise and mentorship to the team and our clients, both internal and external
  4. Ability to serve as project director, project manager or design manager on multi-disciplinary projects for public, private or contractor partners
  5. Oversee the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects led by the Transportation group
  6. Experience with both traditional and alternative project delivery
  7. Contribute to staff development and recruitment
  8. Champion project delivery best practices, quality and safety in your day to day work

What you bring to the team:

  1. Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10+ years’ experience working in transportation in Western Canada
  2. Professional Engineer/Technologist registered or eligible for registration in Alberta. Registration in British Columbia would be considered an asset
  3. Experience with corporate strategic planning initiatives and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful strategies
  4. Demonstrated considerable understanding of the overall Transportation Market in Western Canada and broad industry trends
  5. Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to interact effectively within all levels of the organization in a collaborative fashion
  6. Demonstrated leadership capabilities in the areas of personnel management, decision making, change management, employee development, performance management, and team building skills
  7. Strong business acumen and commercial skills
  8. Agile self-starter with a proactive, strategic, and creative approach
  9. Outstanding client engagement and relationship skills
  10. Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a demanding consulting environment
  11. Ability to work under conflicting responsibilities, meet required deadlines, and manage and organize processes and procedures
  12. Willingness and ability to travel
  13. Entrepreneurial attitude, committed to building a practice and being part of the exciting growth opportunities within Western Canada
