Summary: 

 As a RF Design Engineer within our versatile engineering team, you will play an integral role in designing new RF products/solutions and enhancing/maintaining our existing products including carrying out component and product system level engineering validation testing, troubleshooting and production launch support.
You will work in a fast-paced, cross-functional engineering team environment and you will demonstrate effective communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation as well as the ability to work with minimum supervision.

What You'll Do:

  • Conducts all aspects of the new product development cycle including the conceptual design, CAD simulation and optimization, electrical/electronics circuitry and PCB design, prototyping and testing, project technical documentation, material and cost analysis and reports.
  • Develop derivative designs according to customer’s requirements and product roadmap.
  • Creates or reviews product release documents such as specifications, drawing markups, customer technical manuals, testing procedures, and technical instructions.
  • Collaborates with the mechanical engineering team for new product development and/or improvements to existing products.
  • Troubleshoot design-related issues and support Operations/Production teams in addressing manufacturability issues.
  • Keep abreast of emerging RF/microwave technologies, new design methodologies and engineering practices targeting new product opportunities, performance improvement and cost reduction.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent area of study
  • 5+ years of industry experience developing RF products for commercial applications.
  • Strong background in electromagnetic theory and RF and microwave engineering
  • Rich experience designing RF products, including RF conditioning products from 30 MHz to 6 GHz and related circuitry.
  • Knowledge and prior experience with the following are a definite asset:
    • microstrip and stripline components design and circuits such as broadband power dividers/combiners, hybrids, couplers, and filters.
    • RF/microwave passive components design such as cavity filters, ceramic filters, and duplexers.
    • RF/microwave circuits design such as amplifiers, LNAs, mixers, and synthesizers.
    • Analog circuits design such as power monitors, current sensors, control circuits, bias circuits, interface circuits.
  • Basic knowledge of base station system including combining/filtering equipment, transmission/receiving equipment, and other related components
  • Hands-on experience with RF / microwave components such as couplers, circulators, isolators, switches, attenuators, phase shifters is an asset.
  • Experience with PCB development of RF/microwave and analog circuits; basic firmware development is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D full-wave EM CAD tools (CST or Ansys HFSS), RF circuit simulation tools (ADS, Microwave office), PCB layout software (OrCAD, Altium)
  • Hands-on skills utilizing test equipment such as vector network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, digital oscilloscope, power amplifiers, power meters, temperature test chamber, etc.
  • Experience with DFM and exposure to high-volume and high-quality manufacturing processes.
  • Good technical writing skills including prior involvement with white papers or patent applications are an asset.
  • Familiarity with Solidworks and Solidworks PDM is an asset.
