Job Description

The Manager of Regulatory Affairs is responsible for the development and execution of regulatory strategies and plans to ensure compliance with applicable Canadian federal and provincial laws, regulations, and standards for all Farm Boy products. This position will play a critical role in influencing our regulatory policy decisions and supporting our commitment to quality and compliance. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way. Major Responsibilities: Provide regulatory leadership with expertise in Canadian food labelling and manage the internal nutritional database. Monitor changes and stay up to date in regulatory policy by Health Canada and the CFIA, communicating their impact internally to support the business for compliance and continuous improvement. Provide regulatory guidance on the commercialization process through collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure all regulatory requirements are met. Manage the regulatory approval process for products, including finished food specifications, product labels, promotional materials, and other relevant documentation to ensure compliance with regulations. Lead the team of Regulatory Specialists on project assignments, providing guidance and support for timely completion. Develop and document internal policy and procedures related to food regulation. Manage document control process for production and private label specifications, communicating updates across the supply chain. Liaise with regulatory authority, respond to inquiries, and participate during regulatory inspections and audits. Interact with outside organizations to ensure compliance with all set criteria, to include Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO, Organic, and other programs as needed. Monitor and track regulatory compliance metrics and provide regular reports to Director. May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis. Qualifications Typically requires completion of post-secondary education in Food Regulatory, Food Science, Nutrition, or Food Engineering; as well as a minimum of 5 years of experience in Canadian Food regulatory with proven increases in responsibility and dealing with complex products, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven track record of successfully developing and executing regulatory strategies through policy changes. Established knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial food regulations, guidelines, and principles on ingredients, allergens, nutritional labelling and claims including: requirements for organic, non-GMO, Kosher, and Halal. Excellent understanding of the product development process and the ability to apply regulatory requirements to each stage. Experience in interacting with regulatory authorities and managing regulatory inspections and audits. Proficient with using regulatory/nutritional databases, food formulation software programs, MS Office, and Adobe. Prior experience and certifications in Regulatory Affairs. HACCP, GFSI, Quality Assurance considered an asset. Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manager multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex regulatory concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to review and interpret technical documentation, scientific data, and regulatory guidelines accurately. Positive attitude, desire to learn and collaborate with a strong customer service mindset. Excellent team work orientation with the ability to work independently. Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with a high level of detail, initiative, and adaptability. Willingness to work flexible hours and must be able to travel. Work & Sensory Environment: Exposure to eye strain from computer terminals. Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
