Job Title: Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) - Appointments and Surgeries

Location: Guelph, ON

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: Highly Competitive- Starting at $48,000-$58,000/year dependent on experience

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced RVT to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both appointments and surgical procedures, exemplary technical skills, and a passion for learning. This role requires a dedicated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to excellence in veterinary care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians during appointments, including patient intake, examination support, and treatment administration.
  • Administer and analyze diagnostic tests (hematology, clinical chemistry, cytology, urinalysis, etc.) utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Perform x-rays following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Perform dental procedures in compliance with professional veterinary industry standards, employing an in-depth knowledge of dental structures, conditions and lesions, causes and stages of diseases.
  • Prepare for and assist with surgical procedures, including administering anesthesia, anesthesia monitoring and post-operative care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
  • Manage inventory of surgical supplies and medications.
  • Provide exceptional patient care and client communication, ensuring owners are well-informed and comfortable with their pet’s treatment and care plans.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities to stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and surgical techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, with a strong focus on appointments and surgical procedures.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, surgical assisting, and post-operative care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Passion for animal care and a commitment to delivering high-quality veterinary services.

Schedule:

  • 4 day work week
  • 8-10 hour shifts
