Island Community Mental Health uses national standards to guide our organization to effectively examine and improve the quality and safety of our services, and achieve excellence in all areas (i.e. governance, service delivery, leadership, medication management, infection prevention and control) of the organization.We promote integration in the communities surrounding Victoria through partnerships with the individual, their family members and the community.To further help serve our community, we are looking for a compassionate and dedicated leader to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Programs, this position provides management to staff at our licensed care sites and works closely with our management team in carrying out delivery of care and nursing oversight.SCOPE AND LEVEL OF DEFINITIONReporting to the Director of Licenced Care, the Manager of Licenced Care implements PSR recovery services to clients in their places of residence, recreation, and vocation. The manager will assess clients physical, cognitive and psychosocial function, occupational performance, physical environment and planning and implementing a rehabilitative care plan. Moreover, this position provides management to staff at our licensed care sites and works closely with our management team in carrying out delivery of care and nursing oversight.TYPICAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides evaluation and ongoing monitoring of the clients status, therapeutic regime and environment, making revisions to the clients rehabilitation care plan and discharge planning, in conjunction with the Director of Care and appropriate rehab team (Case Management, Psychiatrist, Physician)Refers clients to community resources, other health professionals and service agencies when indicated;Delegation of Task oversight, related teaching and process improvement;Delegates rehabilitation tasks to Mental Health workers (MHWs)and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs);Provides supervision, education, and guidance to MHWs and LPNs while providing feedback on performance;Assists with orientation of new staff through methods such as demonstrating own work procedures;Works in collaboration with the Director of Care to develop and maintain an up-to-date medication administration course, Penelope training, and Emar training;Maintains and updates knowledge in PSR through methods such as reviewing literature, communication with other professionals and attendance at relevant education programs as requested and approved in order to contribute to the continuing improvement of care;Participates in continuous quality improvement/quality assurance activities through methods such as evaluation and measurement of outcomes of programs/care, follow-up of unusual occurrences, identification and participation in research studies and contribution to the identification of new policies and best practices for the profession and the organization;Manages the day-to-day operations of Island Community Mental Health’s Licenced Care sites while adhering to ICMH policy, residential licensing requirements, and Island Health contract obligations;Supervises multi-disciplinary staff, in a unionized environment;Works in collaboration with the Human Resource Department around selection, orientation, performance management, attendance management, and performance assessments of licensed care staff;Participates in on-call manager rotation;Performs other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSTypical Education, Training and Experience:Graduate of a recognized nursing or psychiatric nursing program.Current practicing registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or a practicing RPN;One (1) year recent experience in a community setting or equivalent combination of education, training and experience Knowledge of the Mental Health Act.OTHER REQUIREMENTSClear TB testUp-to-date on Provincial immunization scheduleValid B.C.
